2009's Hottest Kitchen and Bath Trends |
According to Realtor.com here are some of the top kitchen and bath trends from the recent National Kitchen and Bath Convention:
- Go Green. Manufacturers are developing more products like stainless steel and glass that can be reused when life cycles are up. Products that save energy, conserve water, and are made locally are also popular.
- Beyond granite. Granite countertops are still in demand because of their practicality, but glass, stainless steel, and mahogany are gaining a foothold.
- Black and white kitchens. The all-white kitchen is being tweaked with crisp black. One example: white cabinets on the perimeter, black on the island.
- Less space. With many people now opting to downsize, manufacturers are debuting smaller appliances. Less space also means fewer multiples-one instead of two sinks.
- Multiple levels. The two-tiered island in multiple colors is in demand because it provides an upper-level eating and serving ledge that conceals dishes in the sink on the lower level.
- Less maintenance. Since saving time and expense are on homeowners' minds, manufacturers are now offering longer warranties on everything from equipment to hinges and finishes.
- More modern. Simple, straight contemporary lines, floating cabinets, and no toe kicks offer the hot contemporary look.
- Dual, more private. Toilets with dual flushes are catching on, as is placing a toilet in its own private cubicle.

A Kitchen Transformation
|
The Greenstein family was hoping to transform their small kitchen into one which would serve the needs of their friends and family and connect cohesively to the other areas of their home. They contacted a number of firms and the Greensteins say, "We were thrilled to have found John Rogers Renovations, Inc. amidst all the kitchen contractors out there." "Right from the start, John paid close attention to our wish list and to our needs and developed a plan that involved a new mud room, a new laundry room and a spectacular kitchen." "John's meticulous proposal provided us with a very clear view of what the project would entail including a timeline and a detailed cost breakdown."
