Alert ! Steel Prices are going up, order now to save money.
We have been contacted by steel tubing, sheet and channel suppliers letting us know that steel prices are going up soon and substantially. Below is the steel futures index. It is supposed to be a predictor of the future steel prices. Note that in September of 2008, the beginning of this chart, the futures were at 1525 relating to steel prices of 55 cents per pound. Currently the futures index is at 1820. Todays steel prices are in the low 30 cents per pound. If this index is accurate, we all could see steel price increases of about 67%. That would relate to our product increases in approximately that same amount.
