Cardiac Rehab Measures Updated
A coalition of major cardiology and pulmonary organizations has
updated performance measures with the aim of increasing appropriate and
timely referral of patients for cardiac rehabilitation.
The update -- a collaborative effort from the American Association
of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, the American College of
Cardiology Foundation, and the American Heart Association -- clarified
two measures that describe opportunities to improve referral to cardiac
rehabilitation programs...

Get Your Rehab in Shape...or Else!
A loved one of ours, had a Hip Replacement at Lenox Hill Hospital & the surgery went well. Her family, determined that Mom would have "the very best" rehabilitative protocol, insisted on her entering, what is considered a preeminent Rehab Center in Manhattan. Its reputation as being the paradigm of rehab, notwithstanding - our patient, after thirty minutes in her "room", became agitated and then adamant about "not staying in this dive" one more minute! " I can't rehab her if I can't stand staying here"...The family had no recourse but to begin the rather tedious and frustrating scramble to move her to the "MODERN & CLEAN" facility all her friends had raved about...Was the rehab as good? We hope so, because she sure wasn't going to give this one a chance.
