Happy Spring! It's hard to believe that we are almost done with the 1st quarter of 2012. Where has the time gone? COATS has been busy finalizing updates, which will be released prior to 2nd quarter, as well as welcoming new clients to our COATS family.

We've also noticed an increase in sales, and to us, that means staffing industry sales are increasing; woo hoo! We are excited for this growth and look forward to helping you grow efficiently as well!

While you're growing, please don't forget to review some of the legal aspects of your business, to make sure you're in compliance with the various agencies that monitor our industry.

Let's continue to Spring Ahead into the 2nd quarter!

Thanks for being part of our family,

What the Payroll Tax Means for Your Business
Last month, Congress approved and the President signed an extension of the 2% reduction in the Social Security payroll tax to last through 2012. The new law means less paperwork for the tax, fewer weeks of unemployment benefits, changes in drug testing policies, among other things.

ICE Cracks Down on Paperwork Errors
Yes, you read that correctly. Paperwork errors, not just paperwork fraud. A recent report in the Houston Chronicle revealed that about half of the companies fined by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers were fined for problems with hiring paperwork rather than actually hiring illegal workers.

No Room for Error on I-9s
The I-9 is a pain to fill out, especially for as many employees as staffing firms have, but the fines that can come from incorrect I-9 processes are a lot more painful. So we've all got to bring our A game for I-9s.

Awards and Celebrations

We want to give a shout-out to the COATS customers who were named to the Best of Staffing 2012 lists: Allegiance Staffing and our sister staffing firm, Reliance Staffing & Recruiting, both of whom were named to the Best of Staffing Client list.

We Loved Seeing You at TempNet 2012!

A few weeks ago we had the privilege of attending TempNet's annual conference at the Ritz-Carlton (woo hoo!) in Sarasota, Florida.

Karen says, "What a wonderful convention experience with TempNet. I love this group! They WORK when it's time to work but they definitely PLAY when it's time to PLAY!"

Somebody Actually Won the iPod Shuffle!
For months now, we've been asking you to Like the COATS Facebook page. We want you to know the latest from COATS HQ, including news of our clients' growth, pics of us out and about, "Did you knows",  and updates from the COATS family (which includes you!).

In fact, we wanted that so much that we held a drawing for a free iPod shuffle once we got to 200 "Likes." Last Tuesday, we reached that goal, and drew a winner!

But are we happy? NO! We're going for another 200 "Likes." So now, we're going to draw for another iPod shuffle once we get to 400! Once we get to our 400th "Like," we're going to use random.org to select a number between 1 and 400. So even if you've "Like"d us all along, you could still win.

So "Like" us! Really, really "Like" us! Click the box below to view our Facebook page.

Hmm... Is Something Different About Our Website?
Last week, the new COATS website launched. Based on the lack of panicked calls we received from you, we think it's working for you.

We're hoping it's easier for you to access, especially the customers-only pages, and will be more readable as well.

Please let us know what you think, especially if it isn't working for you!

The COATS Users Group on LinkedIn is starting to heat up! We created this group for COATS users to discuss the software with us and with each other so we can all get more out of it.

This is a members-only group, so you don't have to worry about anyone wandering in and spamming us. Unfortunately, that means you do have to apply for membership, but we promise you'll get in; all you have to be is a COATS user. We look forward to seeing you there!

Where have you been?
