Summer is officially here! Time for sunburns, flip flops, cool drinks and, depending on your clients, some of your busiest workdays.

Summer is also time for a flood of students and graduates trying to get a summer job. This might seem like a negative thing, what with the increase in candidates to manage, but it's actually a golden opportunity for staffing. Read our story to see why.

And while you might not be feeling it just yet, many industry experts feel staffing is slated to grow more than ever in 2011. We've got a seven-part series on the blog about how to put your business in the best possible position for that growth.

As your business heats up, feel free to drop into the COATS Users Group on LinkedIn to get advice from your fellow staffing leaders, and check out the COATS blog for staffing stories and legal roundups.

All my best,

Summer Jobs: A Great Opportunity for Staffing

Summer jobsBetween graduation and the end of another school year, the labor pool is experiencing its usual summer swell. What an awful time to be in staffing, right?

Wrong! The summer and its tidal wave of job-market newbies can be a great opportunity for staffing firms. Because while you're receiving all kinds of applications from students and graduates, so are all of your potential clients. Part 3: Be Prepared for New Developments-FUTA

Recent changes brought about through legislation and economic circumstances can affect staffing firms more than other businesses. Be sure you know what's coming in addition to growth. We're examining the tax charge that affects every staffing firm: the Federal Unemployment Tax Act charge, FUTA for short.

We're proud to announce the new COATS Users Group on LinkedIn. We created this group for COATS users to discuss the software with us and with each other so we can all get more out of it.

This is a members-only group, so you don't have to worry about anyone wandering in and spamming us. Unfortunately, that means you do have to apply for membership, but we promise you'll get in; all you have to be is a COATS user. We look forward to seeing you there!

If there are other staffing-related topics you'd like to know more about, let us know and we'll see if we can put together a free webinar on those subjects. Just email your requests to this address.
