Quotes from the conference...
"ESGI is the most wonderful software you can purchase on the market today. I was so excited about this that I couldn't wait to come back and share it with everyone. I left with the best feeling of just knowing how easy my grade keeping and report cards were going to be this year!" ~Donna Glynn, Delaware Teacher

"At the ESGI booth, teachers could see the only computer assessment product at the "I Teach K!" conference; a weightless, untouchable item that would actually work for them daily, weekly, all year long in their classroom. Teachers didn't have to leave ESGI in Las Vegas, they had a "60 Day Free Trial" waiting for them back in their classroom. Now, that's exciting!" ~Kaye Katsis, California Teacher

"I was student teaching in the first grade. We were just introducing addition. One of the boys told me that he could add and he even knew how to do "attraction." I inquired about his knowledge. He said," Oh, you know! Like you've got 5 kids in the hall and 2 go into the bathroom. THAT'S attraction!"

ESGI: How Far We've Come 2001-Present
Teaching is one of the most complex jobs today. It demands broad knowledge of subject matter, curriculum and standards; enthusiasm, a caring attitude and a love of learning; knowledge of discipline and classroom management techniques; and a desire to make a difference in the lives of young people. Think of all the time and energy teachers spend trying to be all things to all people. ESGI is a tool that will give teachers some of that time and energy back. ESGI stands for Educational Software for Guiding Instruction and it automates one-on-one assessments, so you can give them faster and print usable reports immediately. Greg Gorman, an experienced kindergarten teacher, first developed the software in 2001. He too spent countless hours shuffling through paper assessments, doing all the analysis by hand. Greg realized that a computer database could track his classroom assessment data faster and more thoroughly, so he designed it. Greg took a programming class and spent his nights and weekends developing ESGI. By 2002, he was using the software in his own classroom and soon teachers from neighboring districts wanted their own copies of the quick and easy early-literacy assessment tool. In 2006, Greg began offering this software to the public by hosting it on the Internet for easy worldwide access. Now, teachers from California to South Korea are using ESGI to collect the thousands of bits of data involved with assessing letters, sounds, sight words, blends, initial sounds, and more. "I've never seen anything like it," said veteran teacher Blanca Rosales, after being introduced to ESGI at a recent conference. "I can't wait to show my principal this software so she can buy it for us!"
Greg Gorman and his ESGI team of educators travel the country giving demonstrations of this revolutionary teaching tool. Chances are ESGI is coming to a conference near you. Conference News I teach K!
Las Vegas, NV
July 2008
Kindergarten teachers across the country are re-energized for the start of a new school year thanks to the "I teach K!" Las Vegas Conference in July. Hundreds of teachers saw ESGI there and were introduced to our extraordinary early-literacy assessment software.
Jim Grant, CEO of Staff Development for Educators, took the time to explore ESGI himself. With so many schools implementing RTI, Grant says, this is a perfect time for tools like ESGI. Grant commends ESGI for saving teachers time and effort, and for helping them differentiate their instruction.
"It was great showing ESGI to a national cross-section of kindergarten teachers!" says ESGI creator Greg Gorman. "The intense excitement we witnessed was reassuring, and the feedback helps us continually improve our product. It was also encouraging to hear Jim Grant say that we are on the right track. That means a lot!"
Remember to take advantage of our 60-Day Free Trial when you return to school in the coming weeks. It's as simple as signing up at esgisoftware.com. Stay tuned to the ESGI newsletter for our upcoming conference events.
