Greetings!
February is a very busy month for JHS. We are hosting our second annual Trail of Tails: Pet Walk & Festival, Purina Tour for Heroes and Spay Day - all in the name of the cats and dogs in our community. Even our young professionals group, The Pawfessionals, is hosting an event this month, My Furry Valentine, a pet-friendly social. All of this and more is featured in this month's issue of News and Mews.
As we continue to celebrate our 125th birthday with a flurry of activity, it is easy to remember why we are all here - to find forever homes for the furry faces in our care.
If you are looking for somebody special to share Valentine's Day with, look no further. We have so many wonderful, loving animals awaiting their special valentine. Come by and see us today!
We appreciate all that you do for JHS.
Sincerely,
Leona P. Sheddan Executive Director |

Hi! My name is Laci! I am a one-year-old Domestic Shorthair. Are you looking for a confident cat? That's me! I am very adventurous, and the type of cat that likes to be in the middle of the action. I also have an affectionate side and promise to make plenty of time to show you just how loving I can be. Although my friends at JHS have been taking very good care of me, I would like to have my own home with my own family. Won't you come visit me today?
Laci can be adopted for only $25! You will also recieve a free cardboard carrier and a goodie bag. For more information, call or come in today.

Bailey
Hi! My name is Bailey! I am a very happy-go-lucky two-year old Labrador Retriever/American Staffordshire mix. I think everything is fun, interesting and meant for play - some say I am the life of the party. I can also play by myself, and I love squeaky toys. I know basic commands and get along with other dogs. I love to be outside, so I am looking for a family with a yard so I can run and play. I can't wait to meet my new family!
Bailey can be adopted for only $25! You will also recieve $10 off the required purchase of heartworm prevention and a goodie bag. For more information, call or come in today.

Rufus finds his forever home
Abandonned, chained to a fence, and left to die. ACPS rescued him from a sure death. JHS staff members selected this special dog knowing he would one-day find the perfect home. Now lovingly called Rufus by his new family, Connor as named by JHS staff, is a boxer who was with us for about three months.Slightly dog-aggressive, he had many families consider taking him home, but he was never quite the right fit.
A few weeks ago, a family with two autistic sons came in to meet Connor. The oldest boy had been bitten by a dog and was subsequently very terrified of all dogs. When Dana Ford, one of our adoption counselors, brought Connor into meet the boys, Connor connected with the oldest boy immediately and was very understanding of both boys' condition and situation. He bonded with the boys and now sleeps in the oldest boy's bed every night, comforting him.
"We absolutely LOVE Rufus!!! He's been so much fun to have around and is so well behaved! We take him with us everywhere, and he seems to have no problems with other dogs or people of any sort," says Jade, mother of the two boys. "The only thing he doesn't do is bark. We have still NOT heard him bark...once! Ha! We love him so much, and he fits our family so perfectly."
This is truly a one-of-a-kind pet for a one-of-a-kind home. This is another example of a life-changing adoption for both the animal...and the family!
