The Johnson High School Competition Cheerleaders perform a stunt in their Live United t-shirts right before our 2011 Campaign Kickoff.

Greetings!

United Way of Hall County launched our 64th Annual Campaign on Thursday, September 8th at the Lanier Charter Career Academy at The Oaks. The event was a little unique from other kickoffs because in addition to announcing the monetary goal for the campaign, we asked our guests to participate in a special project that truly embraces our mission of improving lives in Hall County.  The 200 guests assembled 500 "Live It" kits.  The kits contained items such as a blanket, toothbrush and toothpaste, lip balm and many other items generously donated by local businesses.  We then invited those in attendance to "Live It" by delivering the kits out into the community. They were delivered to local businesses, non-profits, churches, and schools to be distributed to those who might need to feel that somone cares. Within just a few hours, we began hearing stories of how these kits were improving lives all across Hall County.

During the morning, the 2011 Campaign Chair, Brian Daniel, announced this year's goal of $1.8 million dollars. We know achieving this goal will make a great impact in the community. Through the generosity of the companies and individuals like you we know that this goal will become a reality.

During the past month, there were some companies already hard at work conducting their campaigns early to help set the pace for the rest of the campaign. Our Cornerstone Companies raised an outstanding $429,200.97. Please click here to view our 2011-2012 Cornerstone Companies.

We challenge you to follow the example set by those who participated in the assembly and distribution of the "Live It" kits. Don't just wear the t-shirt but allow it to become a part of the fabric of who you are. Real change won't happen without you. I invite you to be a part of the change.  Can a t-shirt change the world?  Watch here and see...

Every Tuesday The Guest House Woodshop is busy creating handmade items with the help of David & Judy McNeilly and Larry Little.  The Guest House Woodshop recently donated handmade toys to Challenged Child & Friends as a way to give back to the community.  These toys were designed and made with love by the "Guests" of The Guest House and volunteers.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Hall County Dedicated New Library and Reading Center

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Hall County dedicated a new Library and Reading Center at its Joseph F. Walters Club which will encourage and improve reading skills, vocabulary development, reading comprehension and develop a more positive attitude toward reading for youth ages 6-12.

The Library and Reading Center was made possible by a grant from United Way of Hall County's J. Cleon Nalley Educational Enhancement Fund and Gainesville First United Methodist Church Great Day of Service.

"We are especially grateful to the donors, supporters and volunteers who made this project a reality for our children," said Steven Mickens, CPO of Boys and Girls Clubs of Hall County. "This is a room that will help inspire dreams and will be a place to share the joy of reading with children."

I DON'T JUST WEAR THE SHIRT, I LIVE IT

It is not enough to believe this notion, or represent it on your person, we all need to get out there and act.
