Brian Daniel of Carroll Daniel Construction Company during the Top Management Volunteer Day at Jones Early Language Development Center.

|
Greetings!
During the past few months, we've seen our community "take action" to improve lives in Hall County in many ways. It started with the school supply drive back in August. And just a couple of weeks ago, we saw about 50 individuals from top management in business, education and government take time out of their workday, leave their desks and pick up a paintbrush or a rake to improve Jones Early Language Development Center.
Carroll Daniel Construction Company, one of our corporate sponsors, took the lead by serving as the project manager in planning the Top Management Day. We're grateful to them for sharing their skills, resources, and time.
And individuals like Cleon Nalley, who believed in the mission of United Way, took action to leave a legacy through his estate planning and because of that, United Way recently awarded four local organizations a monetary gift to support educational initiatives.
Members of the Young Leaders Society took action by planting and dedicating a tree at the United Way office in honor of our Tocqueville Society members.
We've seen it's small things and people who are willing to make that extra effort that have an impact in Hall County. At our mid-campaign progress report breakfast we
demonstrated some ways someone can make a difference.
Tommy Howard, of The Norton Agency, decided to bring his lunch to work one day a week instead of going out and was able to contribute $60. Amy Munn from Lakeview Academy contributed $48 by skipping a couple of pedicures. Michele Piucci with Chattahoochee Bank of Georgia collected $60 by saving on dry cleaning and Reese Daniel, of Northeast Georgia Health System, gave an additional $104 by putting his pocket change in a coffee cup each night.
At this mid-point in our campaign, 51% of the $1.8 million campaign goal or $913,496 has been pledged. But the work is not over. If you've already made a gift, thank you. If you haven't, please log on to our website at www.UnitedWayHallCounty.org to made a secure online gift. We need the support of everyone in the community to help us reach and exceed that goal. So, skip that pedicure or gourment coffee, save that pocket change or bring your lunch a couple of times and LIVE UNITED by taking action to improve our community.

Stories of Domestic Violence as told by its victims. |
This letter, written to President Jackie Wallace, reminds us of how United Way lives its mission of uniting people, organizations, and resources to improve lives in Hall County. Gainesville State College School of Social Sciences hosted the 2nd Annual Domestic Violence Symposium in October.
Dear Jackie, I still remember sitting in your office at United Way Hall County in 2009, and you proposing to me that we should hold a symposium on domestic violence on our campus during Domestic Violence Awareness month. You set the purpose, and mobilized the panel, and the rest was successful history. We did it again this year, and from all reports, with even greater success. Thank you so much for being our co-sponsor for the symposium, the organizing of which accords with the mission of United Way, while providing inestimable services to the students at Gainesville State College. Thank you also for attending the event. We are looking forward to similar collaboration with you in the future in service to our College and the community. Best regards, Dr. George K.
