HPHS student scores perfect '36' on ACT, featured on Ch. 11
Highland Park High School senior Alex Levine scored a perfect "36" on the ACT.
Nationally, approximately one-tenth of 1 percent of students receive a perfect score. Among test takers in the high school graduating class of 2010, only 588 of nearly 1.6 million students earned a composite score of 36.

Asked how he achieved the perfect score, Alex humbly concluded that luck was on his side.
"Given the role that chance plays in determining standardized test scores, differentiating between scores within a certain margin of error tests luck more than it tests skill," he said. "However, I am still honored by the distinction."
HPISD Superintendent Dr. Dawson Orr said Levine has achieved a tremendous academic feat.
"Perfection in any endeavor is rare, and luck notwithstanding, we celebrate Alex's performance on this rigorous test," Orr said. "It is the result of years of hard work and dedication, and it will certainly open doors for him in the future. We congratulate Alex, his teachers and his family on his accomplishment."
