Thought for the Day

When we find ourselves at the end of our ropes, struggling with our lives, that is the exact moment that God can accomplish the greatest miracles in our life, because we are more likely to be looking for His help.  If only we would learn to look for Him!

God's Living Word

"Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples-when they see the love you have for each other." Simon Peter asked, "Master, just where are you going?" Jesus answered, "You can't now follow me where I'm going. You will follow later." "Master," said Peter, "why can't I follow now? I'll lay down my life for you!" "Really? You'll lay down your life for me? The truth is that before the rooster crows, you'll deny me three times."(John 13:34-39, The Message)

My grace is enough; it's all you need.My strength comes into its own in your weakness. (1 Corinthians 12:9, the Message)

Most of us have done it.  We've overstated (or at least over-estimated) our commitment abilities, or strength.  Our intentions at the time were probably good.  We just didn't realize Satan's power and the weakness of our flesh to combine circumstances, fear, doubt, disillusionment...in a concoction brewed just right to bring us to our knees.

Peter had a tendency to overstate everything in his early years as a disciple.  However, once Peter suffered through his personal embarrassments and failures, Jesus had a leader fully prepared to lead powerfully while also walking humbly.

Let's not let our failures keep us from following Jesus and being used for his glory.  In addition, let's not overstate our ability to handle temptations, trials, difficulties, challenges, or problems without God's help.  God's strength is made perfect when we realize our weaknesses and vulnerability; then rely on his strength to sustain us! (adapted from Phil Ware)

Have a great day with Jesus and Be There!
