Thought for the Day

We Christians must simplify our lives or lose untold treasures on earth and in eternity.   Modern civilization is so complex as to make the devotional life all but impossible.  the need for solitude and quietness was never greater than it is today )A. W. Tozer)

God's Living Word

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. (Psalm 37:7, NIV)

"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth" (Psalm 46:10, NIV)

One of the great challenges of our lives today is to fin some time to step back from all the activity and challenges of life and be quiet.  We are so busy running around doing things and struggling to get everything done.  The noises around our lives are so loud we seldom have a chance to step back for a moment to think about our lives, to think about what really is important, to clear our minds so that we might experience the presence of God.

The gospels are full of reminders that Jesus made a practice of setting aside periods of time for prayer and solitude (Luke 4:1-13; Mark 1:35; John 6:15; John 6:22).  The desire of God's heart is to have a personal relationship with us where He can speak to our hearts and share with us His mercy, love and desire to bring peace into our daily journey.  This only occurs when we have learned to set aside some time where we find a quiet place where we can finally hear the voice of God.

Here is a word of encouragement.  Purpose today to begin to find 15 minutes where you will step back from all the activity, clear your mind of all the stuff and things to spend some quiet time with Jesus.  This might be done as you take a short walk, ride your bike, find a comfortable place some where and sit for a few minutes.  Think about His Word!  Ask Him to show you some insight that will allow you to grow in your love for Him.  Think about where He is asking you to trust Him in your life.  Then relax and allow Him to speak to your heart.

Have a great day with Jesus and Be There!
