Thought for the Day

My value and worth is not found in my successes and failures but in the hands of God who made me special and unique, who loves me in the good times and bad times and has offered His life so I can live mine.

God's Living Word

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can't even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me! (Psalm 139: 13-18, NLT)

Several years ago I shared this little story to our junior high confirmation classes to help illustrated how God sees each of us and how this truth can change our life.  The illustration goes like this.

I held up a $20.00 bill and asked, "Who would like this $20.00 bill?"

Hands started going up.  He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this.  He proceeded to crumple up the $20 and then asked, "Who still wants it?"

Still the hands were up in the air.  Well, I said, "What if I do this?"  I dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with my shoe.  I picked it up and asked, "Now, who still wants it?"  Still the hands went into the air.

I then put the bill into water and rubbed it in some dirt and asked, Now, who wants this $20?"

The lesson for all of us to learn is to realize that no matter what I did with the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value.  It was still worth $20.  Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.  We feel as though we are worthless.

But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value to Jesus.  Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to God who desires to bring forgiveness and blessings into our lives.  Life comes down to our perspective and where we choose to look.  Learn to look at Jesus and you will discover the secret to a happy and full life.

Have a great day with Jesus and Be There!
