Thought for the Day

Thought for the Day

If you wish to travel far and fast, travel light.  Take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness and fears.  Try putting on the character, heart and attitude of Jesus and watch everything change as He shows you what can happen when someone gives their life to Him (Glenn Clark, adapted)

God's Living Word

But make sure that you don't get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God. The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed. We can't afford to waste a minute, must not squander these precious daylight hours in frivolity and indulgence, in sleeping around and dissipation, in bickering and grabbing everything in sight. Get out of bed and get dressed! Don't loiter and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in Christ, and be up and about! (Romans 13:11-14, The Message)

Life is such a precious and valuable gift that it grieves my heart to see so many people unable to find the joy and happiness that God offers all those who will listen to His message and follow His Son, Jesus.  It is so easy to get off track and discouraged by the events that surround our lives.

In his book "Quiet Strength", Tony Dungy, shares his story and the events surrounding the death of his son.  Tony has a strong faith in Jesus and has tried to let God speak through his story giving people encouragement and hope to handle the difficult moments in their lives.

He concludes "Quiet Strength" with these words:

"It's been a year since I finished "Quiet Strength".  The same thoughts that prompted me to write this book in the first place still are prominent in my mind: we are all role models, and we all can and should have a positive impact on someone's life.  God has placed each of us where we are for a reason:  within our spheres of influence at work, in our neighborhoods, in our families.  He wants us to touch lives wherever He leads us."

"Whether you are a friend to a bullied boy in middle school, a ray of light in your neighborhood book club, a supportive coach for a high school team, an available shoulder to someone at a time of loss, or a hand held out to a child looking for a little hope, we all can change the course of our nation and world, one life at a time, for the rest of our lives."

May God bless your day!

Have a great day with Jesus and Be There!
