Thought for the Day

God is there to meet you in the center of all your trials and to whisper His secrets, which will make you come forth with a shining face and an indomitable faith that all the demons of hell shall never after wards cause you to waver and that secret is Jesus (E.X. Kilbourne, adapted)

God's Living Word

But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. (1 Corinthians 15:57-58, NLT)

We all have them...those trials...those struggles that come into our lives that try our patience, bring restlessness to our day, sadness to our hearts, rob us of our sleep and throw us us into a state of confusion as we search for the answers to a renewed peace of mind.  A death, a financial setback, worry about the children, a new health issue, a loss of a job, a broken relationship, plans, hopes and dreams that have crashed us onto the rocks of reality, rob us of the joy, threaten to bring chaos into our lives and make it hard for us to have hope and dream our dreams.  We all have them, at one time or another, we all have them, they will come, and we must be ready to put them into perspective.

One of those "moments" came into my life last week as our computer crashed while doing a normal upgrade to the operating system.  All of a sudden nothing worked and I began, what turned out to be a six day journey, trying to make things right.  After many hours and countless times of failure, things are finally getting back to normal...whatever that is?

During this process I was reminded again that the key to overcoming the troubles, the challenges and disappointments of this world, is the echo of what Jesus told His disciples in John 16:33:  "I have tole you these tings so that in Me you may have peace.  IN this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world."  There it is...the answer...the truth...as always, it is Jesus!

Don't be confused about what true victory is in the life of the Christian.  It is not the absence of adversity.  Rather, it is the presence of Jesus and the peace He brings.  When you are faced with life's challenges, remember that with God on your side, you can be victorious.

Have a great day with Jesus and Be There!
