American Folklore Theatre is proud to announce the launch of AFT Publishing!

AFT Logo AFT Publishing is the new musical publishing venture of American Folklore Theatre and collaborating composers, lyricists and book writers to offer their original works for licensing to theatrical organizations throughout the United States. Our goal is to dramatically expand public exposure to AFT's large catalog of original musical comedies and to provide affordable, high quality and family friendly theatrical materials in a professional and friendly manner.

Over the coming months AFT will release many of our most popular musicals for outside production to professional and amateur theatrical organizations throughout the country. These are award-winning productions that will captivate your audiences, no matter what their ages (all AFT shows are appropriate for all ages).

Cheeseheads ThumbHumble yet polished,
hopeful, yet not sentimental,

historical yet hysterical...

AFT shows are built on the rock of American folk culture: the great tales, the aching melodies, the drawling turns of phrase that have survived generation to generation.  Some 40,000 loyal fans attend AFT shows each year to laugh and cry with our merry players. Many adoring AFT fans memorize shows and buy show CDs to learn the lyrics. Parents from around the country write to AFT, saying their children sing and act out scenes from AFT shows all year round. This remains true to the company's mission:  "To develop and present professional dramatic productions that will further the knowledge and appreciation of the heritage of the United States...."

These shows range in length from one and a half hours to two hours running time. Extensive production descriptions and music samples are available at our online publishing site. The entire licensing process is a completely digital transaction. Application can be made via our licensing website, quotes and agreements transacted via email, and script and score materials downloaded from our off-site FTP digital library. We can even provide unique show logos to help you market your production.

We look forward to making AFT's great musical comedies available to thousands of new audiences across the country!

Cheeseheads, The Musical

A modern day dairy-tale with a lotto heart!

The most magical thing about the lottery is pondering what you'd do if you won...At Schnaybel's Famous Cheese, the lotto is just the ticket to help the workers take their minds off how things are in Sheboygan. Their beloved founder has passed away and there are rumors the factory may shut down. With typical Wisconsin good humor, the workers carry on while keeping their fingers crossed that something better will come their way...A touching and joyful Wisconsin musical gouda luck fable!

Muskie Love

Ben and Bea are rival fishing guides, both avowedly single-and happy that way. Through the playful scheming of Bea's Uncle Roy (helped along by his daughter, Sarah, and her boyfriend, Claude), Ben and Bea are soon lured into a romantic trap. Despite their sworn hatred of each other, the couple finds themselves inexplicably drawn together. Throw in a feckless Fish and Game Warden, (DNR Doug), the ever-present Wisconsin love of the Packers (including an ode to Brett Favre), a few jokes from Roy, and a wonderful blend of tuneful songs - and you've got Muskie Love, a sure crowd-pleaser. This laugh-a-minute fish tale is a comic, contemporary take on Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, set on the shores of Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Main-Travelled Roads

Based on the timeless tales by Wisconsin writer Hamlin Garland, Main-Travelled Roads tells two tales of love, one laugh-out loud funny, the other one bittersweet but very satisfying. The stories combine to form a show that is both tuneful and charming. Main-Travelled Roads is about lives and loves in early Wisconsin and has proven to be a crowd-pleaser.
