Let Your Light So Shine
Jacques McNeil
Lady Gaga, Audrey Hepburn, Mae L. Blake, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and Michelle Obama are just a few women who are well known for their distinct sense of style. You may or may not agree with "their style", but it is apparent that these women are confident in who they are and comfortable expressing their personal fashion sense.
Style is defined as the distinctive way you speak, act and dress, and your ability to express yourself with imagination, ease and confidence. Style emanates from one's being when they know and embrace who God created them to be. Having style is not just for a "certain" group of people, nor does it require that you be listed among the Rich & Famous in order to have a sense of style. Developing your own personal style is simply about being authentic and identifying what is right for you.
Saint Irenaeus, an early church father stated "the glory of God is man fully alive." We are fully alive, when we are in step with our Heavenly Father, walking out our purpose with confidence and without excuses or apologies. We are fully alive when we know who we are in Christ, and so BELIEVE what the Word of God says about who we are that we celebrate our uniqueness. It is then that we are we fully alive. It is then that God is glorified.
Dr. Cindy Trimm stated, "You, the real you is a work of art, a masterpiece." Imagine that! You are a masterpiece and your value far exceeds the value of Van Gogh's Mona Lisa or the Sistine Chapel Ceiling, painted by Michelangelo. You my friend are made by God Almighty in His image and in His likeness and everything that He does is done well.
My sister, you are an amazing, dynamic, creative, intelligent and beautiful woman. Regardless of your past experiences, failures, flaws or what others may think or say about you. Psalm 139:14 says, "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made, marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well."
Woman of God, celebrate who God created you to be and Let Your Light So SHINE! Let your light shine in all that you say, do and in the way you express yourself through fashion. Identify your signature look and introduce the world to your personal style. Marianne Williamson said, "As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." When we are walking boldly in who we were created to be, it will stir up a desire in others to want to do the same.
As you step out to let your light so shine in the area of your signature look, check out the new WBC fashion corner, "An Eye On Fashion, with Jacques." This new column was borne out of WBC first social event of 2012, "A Day of Style with Jacques."
Monthly I will share fashion tips on the various hues of the season, what's new in skin care and cosmetics as well as the latest fashion trends, fads, main stay and fashion do's and don'ts. I am so excited to have an opportunity to travel on this journey of authenticity and exploration with you.
God bless you, and until next time, this is Jacques saying, "You are God's UNIQUE masterpiece, so live your life confidently without excuses or apologies."

A Healthy WITNESS ~ How Is Your Vision?
Dale Hill
"It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt...He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible." (Hebrews 11:27)
My Pastor, Bishop Charles E. Blake, loves to encourage his members with the sentiment of, "I see you in the future, and you look much better than you look right now!" Sounds good doesn't it? I love it!
That proclamation is full of confidence, hope, and assurance. But, guess what? I can see you as a healthy witness in the future all I want to, but if you don't see YOURSELF looking like a healthy witness in the future, I don't believe you ever will become one. Like Moses, we have to keep our eyes on the invisible believing by faith that with our obedience and God's help, the invisible will become visible.
Remember? As Christians, we live and see and walk and make choices based on our FAITH and not by what we see. (From II Corinthians 5:7) The new healthy, active, energized you, might be invisible right now, but just keep looking at her by faith, and keep applying the right principles to your life and pretty soon the manifestation of your faith will be staring right back at you from that FULL LENGTH mirror! If you want to be more active, then begin to see yourself off of the couch more than on it, and put a plan in place that requires you to move more every day, i.e., keep your tennis shoes in the car, or purchase a membership at a fitness center, or get a work out buddy, or park further from EVERY entrance that you enter, or walk to the corner market rather than drive, or get a pedometer, or try a new sport, or get some new work-out clothes, or, if you have a desk job, stand at your desk often (we burn more calories standing than sitting), or actually use the treadmill or stationary bike that you paid all of that money for and all it's doing is collecting dust! If you want to eat more complex carbohydrates like whole grains and legumes ("good carbs"), and eat less simple carbohydrates like cakes and cookies ("bad carbs"), then begin to see yourself eating oatmeal and fruit for breakfast rather than sugary cereal, or replace white rice with brown rice, replace white bread with whole wheat bread, eat one chocolate chip cookie from Subways instead of two, drink one soda per day instead of two, choose a salad without the croutons at the fast food restaurant, rather than choosing the cheeseburger and fries, choose a regular sized meal at the fast food restaurant, rather than super-sizing it, or, after you and your party have enjoyed one basket of bread at the restaurant, ask the waiter not to bring any more, or try actually cooking one day this week rather than eating processed food or restaurant food all seven days of the week. If six months from now, you want to weigh XX lbs. less than you do now, then start to see yourself at that weight and stop going on a diet, but instead make lifestyle changes; stop the all or nothing approach and learn portion control, and self-control instead; stop believing that if there is no pain there is no gain, and find an activity that you like so much that you use it to keep moving and burning off calories; stop comparing yourself to others and take things slowly, one day at a time, one principle at a time, until you are making healthy choices consistently; stop quitting on yourself but simply start over at the next meal; stop saying something doesn't work until you work it the way it's meant to be worked. Yes! As a matter of fact, I DO see you in the future, and you DO look much better than you look right now! What do you see? How is your vision? © Dale W. Hill Certified Wellness Coach

An Eye on Fashion with Jacques
My mom, Mary Varnadore was the "Original Fashonista." Whether it was the Annual Family Reunion, Sunday Morning Church Service or the Social Event of the Season she was always stunning and appropriately dressed.
I can remember as a child being in awe of her beauty and her breathe-taking sense of style. It was because of her sense of style and love for fashion that a love for fashion was sparked within me years ago. Several years after graduating from college, I was inspired to become a Certified Corporate Image Consultant, and in addition to working with clients one on one to assist them in identifying their personal style, I started a company that enabled me to work with men, women, and businesses in their quest for positive personal and professional development.
The "Day of Style with Jacques", spearheaded by Dana Frelix, the WBC Social Committee Coordinator, ignited a desire within me to officially share my love for fashion with my WBC Sisters. Monthly, in "An Eye on Fashion with Jacques", I will share the latest fashion trends and tips.

January 2012 ~ Accessory Fashion TrendThe Gladstone Bag, or the modern doctor's bag was considered the workingman's asset, but today it is a woman's luxury item.
The Gladstone Bag dates back to the early 19th Century. Men in mainstream professions, for that era at least, such as doctors, lawyers, electricians and plumbers primarily used the bag during the war. And it got its alternative name, the "doctor's bag", for obvious reasons ~ its shape.
The most beautiful aspect of Gladstone is it's dual-purpose. One day it is a carrying bag to work, and on another day is is the perfect traveling companion.
Yellow Gladstone Bag
The Spectator Gladstone Bag
The Trend Gladstone Bag How to carry itFor a bag with such a prominent shape, it's important to note that it has the capability of overshadowing all other accessories that are part of an outfit. Despite the colour you choose, Gladstones are predominantly the leader of the pack and you have to give them the credit they demand. Hence, here are a few things to keep in mind, before you tuck in this baby under your arm and walk out of the house: - It's not a typical shapeless tote (with zero compartments) that eventually becomes a part of your outfit. Gladstones are to be treated like a classic vintage piece that need to be styled in the most trusted fashion. They're bold, smart and exude confidence.
- Due to its boxy shape, be mindful of what you're pairing it with. It works as well with cigarette pants and a blazer, as it does with a '60s-style midi-length shift dress. But I wouldn't recommend that you carry it with an overflowing blouse, or to the beach.
- When choosing a colour, go for an all-season variety. One that will last you all through spring and summer 2012. Some classic shades that'll always work: tan, reddish brown, charcoal black, navy and plum red.
You can find a lovely Gladstone Bag at Macy's, Nordstrom, Saks, or your local Vintage shop.
Remember, "You are God's UNIQUE masterpiece, so live your life confidently without excuses or apologies."
