Speak the Word, Believe the Word
by Jacques McNeil

Are you convinced that the Lord hears your prayers, or at times do you feel as if it is more of a "hit & miss" as it relates to praying? Let's take a look to see what the Word of God has to say. To begin with, Proverbs 15:29 states, "The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayers of the righteous." You, my sister, are a born-again, blood-washed woman of God, who is established in righteousness. Given that, the Word assures you that God hears your prayers.

Well, now that you know He hears your prayers; you may be asking "why does it take so long at times for Him to respond?" It is apparent that God's concept of time is totally different from our concept. It's important for you to understand that He has not forgotten you, and He is at work behind the scene whether you see it or not. I can't speak for you, but I have had some requests that have been at the altar for more than 15 years, and honestly speaking, there were times when I wondered if it was worth continuing to pray about it, or believe that a change would come. What I have discovered is the lessons that I've learned during my time of waiting, far exceeds anything that I thought I needed to learn. Today, I can truly praise God for the delay because I know my change, your change; our change is going to come.

My question to you is "what words are you speaking during the time that you're waiting for the manifestation?" Are you speaking faith-filled words that incorporate the Word of God, or are you murmuring and complaining and speaking fear/doubt-filled words? Job 22:28 says, "You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you." According to Webster, declare is defined as "to make known or state clearly; to announce officially or to proclaim." Sisters, you have to literally, verbally speak the Word of God over your prayer requests/concerns/issues and then trust, rest and watch the Lord move on your behalf.

Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." There is power in the Word of God, and according to Evangelist Doris Douglas, "the power of the Word of God will take authority over the circumstances in our life." But in order for that to happen, you must speak the Word of God and believe the Word of God. Sisters, no longer can you afford to pray, "I think, I hope, I wonder if He hears me" type prayers. You are a woman of God, a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, according to I Peter 2:9. Speak the word of God, believe it and choose not to waiver at the promises of God through unbelief.

What are you believing God for? Know that nothing is too hard for Him. Recently I heard a testimony that was given by Dewitt and Kim Jones that reminded me of this. When they were newlyweds they were informed that because Kim was diagnosed with toxic shock syndrome, she would never be able to have children. Dewitt and Kim dared to believe God and today, 31 years later, they have five children, and one grandchild and they are better know as "Forever Jones" a Christian Gospel Group. The lyrics to a song on their latest CD states:

"Time to believe in what God said,
Time to believe in what He promised.
We see small, He sees great,
When we speak doubt, He speaks faith,
Time to believe in what God said."

Sisters, now is the time to declare and believe what God said. I know your burdens may be heavy, and maybe you have been waiting for what feels like an eternity for your change to come. Know that God loves you and He truly does have a special plan for your life. Choose to believe that ALL things really are working together for your good.

Mental Health Tip of the Month: How to Reduce Anxious Thoughts
Lisa BoldenMental Health Tip of the Month: How to Reduce Anxious Thoughts
 by Dr. Lisa Bolden

Do you find yourself waking up at night worrying about a situation? Do you find it hard to sleep or relax because something is always on your mind? Do others tell you that you worry too much? If you answer yes to any one of the questions above, here is a technique that can help reduce anxiety levels:

· Identify a specific worry or thought that you think about repeatedly, then write the thought down the first time you noticed it.
· Rate how much you believe this worry will come true on a scale of 0-100%.
· Next, write down your prediction of the worst possible outcome if it were to come true.
· Rate your belief in the accuracy of that prediction on a scale of 0-100%, (with 100% meaning you completely believe your prediction is true).
· Then write your prediction of the best possible outcome if the specific worry were to come true, and rate it using the scale above.
· Next, record the most likely or realistic outcome of your specific worry, and rate it using the same scale. Was the most likely outcome the same as any of your other predictions? Did you notice that there is an evidence that your specific worry is not as likely to come true?
· Now rate how much you believe your specific worry, and notice if the number is lower than your original rating.

Did you notice a change in your mood or reduction in your anxiety after doing this exercise? This technique comes from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on how our thoughts affect our moods and our behavior, and how we can restructure our thoughts and change our behavior to change our moods.  Looking for evidence, for and against thoughts that are worrisome can help to sort out if they are distorted, or blown out of proportion.  For more information about CBT or Anxiety, see the American Psychological Association's website: http://www.apa.org/topics/anxiety/panic-disorder.aspx and The Academy of Cognitive Therapy at: http://www.academyofct.org. Volunteers Needed

Crisis Pregnancy Clinics of Southern California is looking for mature Christian women who have a heart for women with an unplanned pregnancy and who will be advocates for their unborn children.

Vital to our ministry: Nurses, Counselors, Help-liners and/or Receptionist.

Nurses have the opportunity to use their licensed skills to help save babies lives by presenting facts of fetal development and abortion risks.

Counselors compassionately listen to the client's needs and present Biblical answers. They also share the risks of abortion and what it means to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Counselors have the benefit of going through a nationally-recognized, 12 hour training class as well as on-the-job training.

Help-liners help answer phones after hours, when the clinics are closed. They intervene and book appointments for a client that would probably call the next number in line (Abortion Clinic). God will use these ladies to stand in the gap and rescue the innocent from abortion.

Receptionists are equally vital to our ministry as they have the first opportunity to make a young lady feel welcome when she walks into or calls the clinic. A warm, compassionate, loving smile that says "we are not going to judge you here, we want to help you" will set the tone for her entire experience at the clinic.

There are also other ways in which you can help ...such as praying, data entry/filing, and occasional cleaning are just some of the ways ladies have joined us when they do not feel called to the counselor or receptionist position.

If interested please contact: Leanne Key, Director of Client Services at 818-843-0424 Monday thru Friday 9am-5pm or via email: Leanne@avenuespc.org
