Are You Laughing Yet?
by Jacques McNeil

"She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future."
         Proverbs 31:25 (NLT)

The very thought of what the future might hold causes many to be anxious, live in a state of fear and it has even been known to drive some people mad.  Our local, national and international news broadcasts bombard our airways with mind-blowing reports that cause Christians and non-Christians to question if there is a God and if He loves us and cares about our suffering. To begin with, yes God does exist and He sits high and looks low and He is concerned about everything that concerns us. Second, John 3:16 reminds us of the love that He has for us ~ "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes on Him, should not perish but have everlasting life."

The question that comes to mind is what is it about our humanity that causes us to continue to walk in unbelief especially when we experience God's unconditional love and provision on a regular basis. Why do we doubt the Word of God which states in Jeremiah 29:11 (MSG), "I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out-plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for."

The virtuous woman who is referenced in Proverbs 31:25 is able to face the future with confidence because of the intimate relationship she has with the God of the universe.

You too can walk in this same confidence and peace as you really get to know Him, not know of Him.

Sisters, I know life is challenging and it's full of uncertainty, but the God of our salvation is able to establish us in such a way that we won't waiver at the promises of God through unbelief, but we'll be strengthened in faith. When you've done all you can do, chose to stand on the Word of God. Chose to walk in faith and not fear, because fear is not of God. As you read, study and apply the Word of God, you will be able to laugh like the virtuous woman, because you know who holds your future.

The Praying Life - Monthly Prayer Tips
K Thompson 2011Crazy Love: Release the Longing
 by Kimberley Thompson

God's Word for You:

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.  Psalm 63:1 (NIV)

Application:

The yearning and longing in our heart belongs to God alone. He put it there when he created us. This desire was met for him alone and yet we seek other ways and things to satisfy this longing. The longing that burns in our heart can only be satisfied by God.

God's love is relentless and he will not give up. God's love for us draws us home to him; it heals us; it makes us whole; it redeems us; it protects and it satisfies us. When we pray we are demonstrating our dependence on God. It is through prayer that the longing deep within our hearts acts like a magnet and draws us closer towards God.

God desires to awaken your capacity to love and to be loved but we must desire to be love sick. Give your heart back to him and yearn for him.  Ask God to release the passion in your heart to love him.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I pray that I long for you alone with all my heart. Release the longing in my heart to love you the same way you yearn for me.  Amen.

Devotional Reading:

"That longing in the heart of a woman to share life together as a great adventure-that comes straight from the heart of God, who also longs for this. He does not want to be an option in our lives. He does not want to be an appendage, a tagalong. Neither does any woman. God is essential. He wants us to need him-desperately."
