Do You Know Him?
Do You Know Him?
Philippians 3:10 "That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering, being made conformed unto His death." At the time the Apostle Paul wrote this passage of scripture, he was confessing to the fact that he wanted to know the Lord on a deeper level. Yes, he knew Him as His Lord and Savior, but the type of "knowing" that Paul referred to was directly related to knowing Him by experience.
My grandmother was a loving, gentle, Woman of God who always displayed a quiet strength. She was saved, sanctified and on fire for the Lord, and she greatly impacted my life as a young girl. She was an intercessor, the "Church Mother', and she was an overcomer. I was blessed with an opportunity to witness her living her faith. She had a deep, personal relationship with the Lord, and her trials, tribulations, triumphs and tragedies were all contributing factors to her intimate relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
As I matured and began to experience the vicissitudes of life, I realized that in order for me to be a woman of inner strength that I had observed in my grandmother, it was imperative that I develop my own personal relationship with the Lord. Believe it or not, I just couldn't rely on her relationship. I needed to "know" Him for myself, and this "knowing" was two-fold in its manifestation. It not only incorporated knowing Him in power, which refers to my ability to overcome resistance, but it was the opportunity to participate with Christ in suffering for the sake of righteousness. II Timothy 2:12a states, "If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him."
Sister's it is an hour in which having the Lord Jesus Christ as a "casual acquaintance", is just not enough. Maybe you've underestimated the need for a deep relationship with Him, or possibly you've depended on others to "pray you through." The Lord desires to empower you to be able to stand in the face of adversity, and be triumphant against the onslaught of the enemy's attacks. This can only occur as you develop a personal relationship with the Lord, and really get to know Him. I would venture to say that you know all that's required to get to know Him, but my question to you is, "are you diligent regarding actually doing it?" Hebrews 11:6b states, "and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."
I would like to challenge you to step outside of your "norm", to intentionally get to know Him. If you've never attended a prayer service, Sunday School session, or enrolled in a Bible College course, why not do it now. There is nothing more precious, empowering, or freeing than truly knowing our Lord and Savior. Don't allow anything or anyone to infringe upon your opportunity to get to know Him. Your very life depends on it.

Radical Being|Giving Thanks to the Lord, God
Radical Being|Giving Thanks to the Lord, God
by Kimberley Thompson
"That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God." Leviticus 23:43
Did you know that celebrating "Thanksgiving" is rooted and chronicled in the Bible? The Feast of the Tabernacle or Feast of the Inga.thering is still celebrated today in Jewish culture. It has a double connotation: historical and agricultural (just as Passover and Pentecost). Historically, this celebration was to be kept in remembrance for the forty-year period when the children of Israel was dwelling in tents in the wilderness and wandering in the desert. It was there that the Lord gave this divine ordinance to be past down through the generations, "I am the Lord your God."
Prayer Challenge: The same decree that the Heavenly Father gave to Israelites in Old Testament rings true for believers today. I would encourage you to press pause in your daily lives not just for this holiday season but to give thanks to the one who has given you eternal life. Remember these words "I am the Lord your God", let them rest in your heart and on your lips. In your personal prayer time:
· Thank God for His gift of mercy and grace for bringing you out of sin and slavery (1 Chronicles 16:8-9). Remember salvation is a gift (John 3:16). Thank him for salvation, His goodness (Psalm 118:1), His love (Psalm 138:2), His faithfulness (Jeremiah 33:11). · Remember "No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Father, I thank you for all you have done in my life. I have searched all over and could not find anything that satisfied, only you satisfy my hungry soul. Thank you for being Lord over my life.
