God Knows and He Cares
by Jacques McNeil
--------------------------------------------------------------
" The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied." Psalm 37:18, 19 Be not dismayed whate'er betide, God will take care of you; Beneath His wings of love abide, God will take care of you. God will take care of you, Through every day, over all the way; He will take care of you, God will take care of you. All you may need He will provide, God will take care of you; Nothing you ask will be denied, God will take care of you. God will take care of you, Through every day, over all the way; He will take care of you, God will take care of you. No matter what may be the test, God will take care of you; Lean, weary one, upon His breast, God will take care of you.
The wife of Pastor Walter Martin, Civilla Martin who was confined to her sickbed wrote the words to this familiar song in 1904, while her husband was away preaching the gospel. Upon his return he composed it to music and churches all over the world are still singing this song. For the past several weeks the words to this song have resonated in my spirit and I can attest to the fact that God really will take care of His children. You see, we are living in troubled times. There is much economic uncertainty and the instability that we're experiencing worldwide has caused men and women from coast to coast to live in a comatose state of paranoia, wondering what is CNN going to report next. Psalm 112:7 reminds us something about the God-fearing person. The scripture says, "He is not afraid of receiving bad news; his faith is strong, and he trusts in the Lord."
The Word of God is the same yesterday, today and forever. When you are faced with life's conflict's that seem to overwhelm you, allow Jehovah Nissi, the God our banner who is the standard of victory to deliver you, or Jehovah Shalom to saturate you with a spirit of peace.
Habakkuk 3:17-19 says it like this, "Even though the fig trees have no fruit and no grapes grow on the vines, even though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no corn, even though the sheep all die and the cattle stalls are empty, I will still be joyful and glad, because the Lord God is my Savior. The Sovereign Lord gives me strength. He makes me sure-footed as a deer, and keeps me safe on the mountains." According to the Wycliff Bible Commentary, the mention of the fig tree, the grapevine, the olive, the grain, and flocks covers the entire range of agricultural produce upon which the nation was dependent. During enemy invasion, all of the creature comforts that the people had become accustomed to were utterly ruined. Habakkuk trusted in the God of His salvation and he understood the essence of true contentment. He resolved that regardless of the external circumstances that he faced, he was going to rejoice in the Lord. David said in Psalm 34:1, "I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth." Sisters, like Habakkuk and David, you have to choose to stand on the Word of God in the midst of uncertainty and allow praise to emanate from your very being, because God will take care of you.
Personally I can state that God will take care of His children. Just as recent as last month, right after our return from celebrating our 13th Anniversary at the lovely Alhatti's Christian Resort, where the Lord moved mightily in our midst, He moved miraculously on my behalf. For the past two years I have been employed by Kaiser Permanente as a consultant, not a permanent employee. My contract was for two years and the contract was scheduled to expire on October 16th, 2008. My contract along with several of my co-worker's contracts were extended for another year. There were others who were not offered an extension and many are unemployed as a result. Even though my contract was extended, I would still be a consultant and not a permanent employee. I was thankful for the extension, but the Lord had something else in mind. A few months ago a manager from another department called me in to interview for a permanent position and two days after the retreat I was offered a permanent position as a Project Manager with Kaiser Permanente. Praise the Lord! Sisters, God is good and I encourage you to settle in your spirit that whatever comes, God is going to take care of you. I thank God for this opportunity, however, I also know that during the time when my position was eliminated, weeks after Micaela was born, that He took care of me then as well.
During this season of transition and uncertainty, meditate on the Word of God. Psalm 37:1-7 paraphrased encourages you not to fret or be envious of the wicked who may prosper in their ways. You are a wise woman of faith, so trust in the Lord with all your heart, delight yourself in Him, commit your ways to Him, rest in His promises, and wait patiently for the Lord to move miraculously on your behalf. He loves you and He is no respecter of person. Just as God kept Jacob as the apple of His eye, He will keep you as the apple of His eye. Remember Psalm 37:25 which says, "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread." God knows all about your situation, and regardless of what's happening on Wall Street, He cares, and He is working all things together for your good.

W.I.T.N.E.S.S. 13th ANNIVERSARY RETREAT UPDATE:
If you weren't on the mountain top at Alhatti's Christian Resort last month, as we celebrated our 13th Anniversary, you missed an amazing time of fellowship with your sisters, and more importantly with the Lord. Truly the Lord was in that place and He manifested His presence in our midst throughout the entire weekend. I would love to share testimonies from everyone who was present, but there just isn't enough time or space. In order for you to expereince a taste of what transpired, , below you will find a few testimonies and photos from our time at Alhatti's. Next time you will have to join us!
---------------------------------------------------------------
I am still filled from this past weekend. God truly poured out His blessings upon all of those in attendance and he moved mightily with deliverance and breakthroughs. All of you that spoke had an in-depth and powerful message and God used each one of you in his own way to convey what was needed most. I have three brief testimonies. I was seeking God's direction on behalf of a relationship with someone. I have been battling in my spirit and wanted specific words to present to that individual to determine if this was truly of God. God provided me with the words, and now I am waiting for God's timing to have that conversation. I was also praying for Aileen. She was truly taken aback by Sister Houston's prophecy over her life. She is still in awe. I informed her that was the Lord speaking to her and using Sister Houston as a human vessel. Aileen informed me afterwards, that she was trying to decide whether to return to her roots of Christianity of which she was previously raised up with. To God Be the Glory!!!! Lastly, I was seeking God on behalf of elevating to the next level spiritually. The words spoken by you regarding servitude and witnessing really ministered to my spirit. God spoke to me and told me to return back to what I have always known which is to fast and pray. I pray daily without ceasing, but I have not fasted for a while. He reminded me that if I am expecting more of him, he needs more of me!! The retreat was revitalizing, refreshing, uplifting, encouraging and renewing. I will always remember the day on the mountain. "When" (not if) the Lord leads you to coordinate another service, I pray that the Lord will make me more available to assist you in whatever is needed and required. Yumiko Norris

The Lord was present on the mountain top this weekend! It was an honor to be in the presence of so many brilliant women of God. It was evident that when Godly women come together, on ONE accord, that it is truly God's design. I was able see the WORD of God in the flesh with our group and it was a beautiful experience. All of the speakers were anointed and extremely insightful. I gained more of God's revelation for my life and was able to leave those things that hindered me from going into deeper fellowship with Him. I appreciate all that this retreat had to offer and I look forward to the next one! Danielle Evans
