The Triple Crown Sports Wenatchee Valley Season Opener will be In the Wenatchee Valley next weekend, April 14 & 15. The boy's tourney for ages 9-14 has a total of 123 teams registered. Twelve facilities will be used throughout the Valley, with action getting underway at 8:00am Saturday morning. The final game (championship for the u/14 division) is set to begin at 5:30 Sunday at Wenatchee Valley College's Paul Thomas Sr. Field. The teams have been invited to attend the Opening Ceremonies at The Wenatchee Red Lion Hotel Friday evening. Wenatchee Mayor Frank Kuntz will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. We'll have the full listing of fields in next weeks Weekend Reminder. If you live in the Greater Wenatchee Area, it's a guarantee that there'll be action close to you. It's a strong caliber of youth baseball, definitely worth checking out. Of the 123 teams, 116 are from outside the area. From an economic standpoint, this one is huge. From Friday thru Sunday, it is estimated that 1/2 million dollars will be spent by visiting teams and their accompaniment. Again, more details to come next week! |
Wild in Playoffs, Rams Host Home Opener |
The Wenatchee Wild open the first round of the Robertson Cup playoffs this weekend at the Town Toyota Center. The Wild play host to the Alaska Avalance with the first three games of a best-of-five series. Games 4 & 5, if necessary, will be at the Avalanche.
Game times:
Thursday 6:35
Friday 7:05
Saturday 7:05
---------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, The Wenatchee Valley Rams will hold their 2012 home opener Saturday at 3:00 at Eastmont Stadium in East Wenatchee against the Okanogan County Commandos. The Rams are 2-0 on the season, good enough for 1st place in the WFL. The contest is the first of five consecutive Saturday home games for the Rams. |

If you like to fish, we have a comprehensive report on our web site that will fill you in on Chelan and Douglas county lakes that have already opened, or will be opening April 28 for the general opener. Good stuff. Just go to www.wenatcheevalleysports.com and click on Chelan/Douglas counties fishing prospects.
Besides finding updated info on upcoming events, you may want to check out our weekly poll on the home page. With the opening of baseball season, we're checking the pulse of the Wenatchee Valley as to their feelings on the Mariner's season. With their youth movement, will they break .500? Feel free to weigh in. We'll have a new poll question every week.
Also, rely on the web site to keep you informed of upcoming events in the future. It's also a great resource for those needing to contact leagues and organizations.
