Crayon Resist and Versamark Resist Techniques
These are two simple stamping techniques that can give you some different effects on your cards or projects. Read on to find out how.
Crayon Resist
1. Stamp an image using black Stazon ink onto glossy white card. An outline image works best, I have used the 'Bud Basic' flowers in my example above.
2. Use a wax crayon (just a cheap childs crayon!) to colour some areas on your design. I prefer a yellow or grey crayon as you can see where you have coloured. I coloured around the large flowers and in the flower centres on my example above.
3. Next use a sponge and ink pad to add coloured ink onto the glossy card. I used purely pomegranate ink on the large flowers and river rock ink on the smaller flowers and gaps. Hint: The colours you choose need to compliment each other when mixed. Product advice: Stampin' Up! sponges produce even colour and can be cut into 6-8 segments so 1 pack will give you more than enough for all your colours. They can also be rinsed for use again and again.
4. Use a tissue to rub the crayon off the card. This will reveal areas where the crayon 'resisted the ink' and remained white.
5. Use your design on your card or project.
Versamark Resist
1. Stamp onto glossy white cardstock with Versamark Ink. I have stamped the petals from the 'Pick a Petal' stamp set in my example. Center of flower is stamped with stazon black ink.
2. Dry versamark ink with heat tool or leave until completely dry. This is important as if the versamark is not dry it will combine with the coloured ink and not resist it.
3. Use sponge daubers and ink pads to apply ink to your versamarked images. The versamark will resist the ink and remain white. I have used 5 different colours of ink on the petals in my example.
