BarbecueMessage from the President

I look forward to directing a dedicated Executive Team and working closely with our regional Chapters to address Government Affairs issues, Educational activities and much more. Even with mixed reviews on the first half of the year, there is good optimism that the second half of 2011 will be strong in all parts of the country. One of the goals for 2011 is to bring synergy to the regional Chapters and the National Board. We are taking the steps necessary in a down economy to build a stronger HPBAC to serve its members and fund our programs.

2011 has already featured a great Ontario HPBAC event in the heart of Collingwood's Blue Mountain Village. If you didn't have a chance to attend you missed a super event that was loaded with ideas and information to help grow your business. A great deal of works goes on behind the scenes, all geared around helping retailers, manufacturers and associate members educate themselves. Sunday's Trade Show featured several impressive new product launches for the 2011 season and Monday had some great training events as well as information sessions, including a lively session with representatives from TSSA (Technical Standards and Safety Authority). Government affairs questions, wood stove change-out program were other topics discussed and of course there were many networking opportunities.

More Educational Events are coming your way .... Atlantic Chapter is  holding what sound to be another great event on September 23rd and Western Chapter has an event planned for August 2011.

I suggest you visit the HPBAC Website to see many new and improved features.

I would also like to thank Marc-Antoine Cantin and Alan Murphy for several years of great contribution and sacrifice toward building our industry. Marc continues his contributions at the North American level.

Get involved - we are always looking for a few good women and men to fill roles in the Regional and National Boards' committees. It's never too late to step up and contribute to the industry you love.

Sincerely,

Paul Hebert, HPBAC President
