Information Bulletin - New Provincial Wood Burning Regulations for Quebec
All members May 8th 2009
On May 5th new wood burning regulations were announced for the province of Quebec. This should not be confused with the Montreal anti wood burning by-law.
 
The targeted appliances are:
 
Wood stoves, factory built wood fireplaces and wood inserts.  (September 1st 2009)
 
Wood Furnaces and Boilers. (April 1st 2010)
 
These targeted appliances sold after the above dates will have to comply with EPA or CSA B415 standards. These regulations apply to pellet appliances also.
 
Exempted products include:
 
Decorative wood fireplaces with a minimum burn rate greater than 5 kg per hour.
Any wood appliances with an air to fuel ratio higher than 35:1.
Wood appliances intended for outdoor use only.
