HUNDREDS ENJOY A WA WIN AT TROPFEST IN FREO

Western Australia was the big winner at Tropfest 2012. As one of the lucky few screenings not affected by storms, crowds packed Bohemia Outdoor Cinema to capacity, to enjoy the world's biggest short film competition. See photo's from the event here
Among the audience members were crew and supporters from adopted WA finalist "Unwanted Friend". While the predominantly WAAPA educated crew of "Unwanted Friend" are well known to the local film community, FTI was also delighted to learn that Julian Vincent Constanzo, Producer behind winning entry "Lemonade Stand", also hails from Perth. Julian's excited parents were in the crowd and said that Julian has spent the past few years working at Fremantle Media in Melbourne. One of the first calls Julian made after winning Tropfest, was to let his employers know that he wouldn't be able to make it in to work the next morning. Watch the winning entry here
Tropfest organisers have wasted no time in revealing the 2013 Tropfest Signature Item (TSI), which is "Balloon". FTI hopes to see even more submissions, finalists and winners representing WA at next year's event.
If you missed Tropfest but want to see all the finalists, two encore screenings will be happening at the Mad Fish winery in Margret River over the Labour Day Long weekend on the 3rd and 4th March. Full details here
