OOMPF & LINK GRANT
RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED
 | | Michael McCall in 'One Night Only' a 2010 Link funded film |
FTI is pleased to announce the first round of funding approvals for 2011 for both the OOMPF and Link funding schemes.
The two films funded under the OOMPF scheme are The Short Shrift (Producer Tamara Small, Writer/ Director Megan Palinkas) and Integrated (Producer/Writer/ Director Nic McRobbie).
The two films funded under the Link scheme are Strange Clouds (Co-Producers Michael Facey & Chris Richards-Scully, Writer/Director Tim Sharp) and What a Debacle, Freddy Farkle! (Producer Bridget Curran, Writer Natalie Manning, Director Jessie Emmerson). More here

Training Facilitator Screen Acting
FTI is seeking applications from a suitably qualified person for this casual position (9 hours per week) to coordinate the effective and successful delivery of the accredited Diploma of Screen Acting including the adherence to curriculum, administration duties, industry consultation and lecturer and student liaison.
While this is not a teaching or production position, the successful candidate will have a central role in providing a quality educational experience in screen training for FTI students. More details here

SCREEN AUSTRALIA RELEASE THE FINAL 'SMALL SCREEN' GUIDELINES
Screen Australia have released new guidelines
for their TV drama and documentary programs,
and introduced a new All Media Fund. The $3-5
million All Media Fund encourages interactive or
multi-platform innovative, risk-taking storytelling. The Convergent Television guidelines will provide the television sector with $30-35 million to support quality Australian drama, children's and documentary programming.
Both were launched at an event at ACMI in Melbourne on Tuesday after more than six months of industry consultation and review. More

The Over The Fence Comedy Film Festival returns for its 14th year. The line up of short
film comedies is more diverse than ever in 2011: there's a blaxploitation parody, a paranormal detective, a father with a point to make to his ungrateful family, some troublesome cows, a reluctant bride, a forgetful groom and a Dickensian tea boy. More

FTI SHORT COURSES ANNOUNCED
While our core courses in Animation, Screen Acting, Digital Production and Documentary are underway, we have recently announced a series of short courses for specialist subjects, suited to both industry professionals and people looking to get a start in the film industry. Courses include Film Sound & Recording, a third round of our amazing Screen Acting Bootcamp, as well as a Masterclass for Final Cut Pro. We are also seeking expressions of interest from potential students for an "Introduction" To Final Cut Pro course. IMPROVE YOUR FILM WITH BETTER AUDIO
Sound quality can make a big difference to an
audience's enjoyment of your film. Despite its impact, audio remains not only a low priority for many filmmakers, but an underdeveloped skill set. Sound editor Wendi Graham leads this two day intensive course that will help you improve your skills in recording and mixing for film. More here

ANOTHER SCREEN ACTING BOOTCAMP SCHEDULED
This 6 week course is an intensive introduction to the principles of acting for the screen.
Fern Nicholson, Head of the Diploma of Screen Acting at FTI, will take participants through intensive training based on the works of the 'method' by Strasberg, utilizing monologues and scenes.
Fern's extensive industry knowledge, knowhow and infectious enthusiasm draws the best performance out of participants.

WILDLIFE SOUND RECORDING WORKSHOP
The biennial workshop of the Australian Wildlife Sound Recording Group Inc (AWSRG) will be held for the first
time in Western Australia from 18th to 23rd September 2011 at the Wellington Lodge and Conference Centre, Wellington Mills.

ARMADALE INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL
The inaugural Armadale Independent Film Festival will be held this year December 1st, 2nd and 3rd, at the Amphitheatre alongside the Armadale Central Shopping Centre as a free, outdoor community event.
