Namaste!

With great contentment, everyone had settled into Savasana yesterday afternoon, and the room was still and quiet.  The silence was disturbed with a THUNK!!!!!!!!  as a  bird flew into one of the studio windows.  Having recently had a bird fatality at my house, I was anxious to get outside to see if she was okay.

After class, I found a juvenile catbird-- upright, but eyes closed, half-standing below the window.  I spent the next fifteen minutes or so stroking her wings and talking to her.  I'm certainly not a bird expert, but her right foot and leg didn't seem right.  She allowed me to continue (what was in my mind) a quasi bird healing on the sidewalk.  She was in and out, eyes open and then again closed for a while.

I'd brought a box outside, as it seemed better to let one the students transport her to a field or wooded area, rather than leave her in the parking lot.  So I scooped her up with intention of putting her in the box. As I lowered her down, she leapt to the ledge of the box.  With a little more time, she flew into a nearby tree.  (Accompanied by cheers from everyone who had gathered on the sidewalk.)

How brilliant!  How much more quickly, and with how much more ease would we recover from those moments in life where we go "crashing into a window" if we just paused?  If we stopped everything and closed our eyes, re-gathered our energy, and allowed those around us to offer help-instead of immediately, blindly, stubbornly, trudging on and dragging the injured bit behind us?  Hmmmm.

Peace,

Jill

FREE Community Yoga Classes
Class size is limited; be sure to pre-register

BlueLotus_06_croppedStudents from our Yoga Immersion and Teacher Training Course are honing their teaching skills -- lucky you!  They will be teaching FREE Community Yoga classes through August at the blue.

Enjoy a free class and support these members of our blue community! Since these are teacher training classes, the class size is smaller than usual; so, space is limited. You are encouraged to pre-register online, but please be sure to come if you sign up!  If you are not in the studio five minutes before class begins, we'll offer your spot to someone else. If you register and are unable to attend, please cancel online or call the studio so we can open that space for another to attend.

Immerse yourself in transformation
Discover yourself and yoga in a whole new dimension

Our Yoga Immersion and Teacher Training course, 9 Months of Transformation, is not only for those who have a desire to teach yoga. Many of the students in our current class signed up with no intention of teaching, but to deepen their personal practice.

"Participating in YTT from an immersion perspective has given me a lot more depth in my practice," said student Anne Robie.  "Understanding the tenants behind yoga and being given a forum for studying and practicing them has really changed my perspective on my work and life, emboldening me to make difficult decisions and take risks to take more control of my life and the choices I am making."

YTT2For another student, Kevin Cain, YTT has helped him gain new insights to his daily practice: "I have new perspectives about most everything yoga -- breathing, postures, meditation -- thanks to the variety of books and teachers Jill brings to the program. I appreciate subtle aspects of the physical body and energy flow I never saw before, and focus on how postures take up space and express energy, rather than finding the perfect shape.  I'm learning that transformation is a product of persistence."

YTT covers a lot of ground for participating students, from Ayurveda to Yin, from Anatomy to Mantras, from Asanas to Philosophy, and a good deal more, providing you with many ways to explore and transform yourself and your practice -- even if you never plan to teach.

The next YTT session begins in September 2009. If you have questions or would like more information about 9 Months of Transformation, Yoga Immersion and Teacher Training at blue lotus, visit the Teacher Training tab at blue lotus, or contact us at info@bluelotusnc.com or 919.831.2583.

BlueLotus42_Deep StretchAre you curious about what Yin is? Whether you are a runner, a biker, a swimmer, or a high energy yoga practitioner, Yin yoga is a perfect complement and balance to our more active, "yang" lifestyle.
In Yin yoga, a more passive style of yoga, we hold poses for longer periods of time. Years of a dedicated asana practice will make anyone healthier, stronger, and more flexible, but at some point the muscles will have reached their limit of flexibility. New depths in postures, deeper ranges of motion, or an increased flow of energy may only be achievable by focusing on the deeper tissues of the body. This is the practice of Yin.
Join Yvonne for this master class for all levels, followed by meditation.
