Happy Spring!

Things are finally turning green, flowers are blooming, sweatshirts are coming off; it's time for Spring Cleaning.

Literally, I need to clean my car.  It's full of dog hair, loaded with scraps of paper, bits of leaves, and random items that are waiting to be returned to the Home Depot.  I should give the whole house a dusting-the proper kind where I actually remove items from shelves instead of dusting around them.  The twice-yearly closet cleaning/donation run to Retails Thrift Store.  And there's my back yard.  But we won't talk about that here.

Metaphorically, there's also plenty on the to-do list.  If external spring cleaning is about getting into those really yucky, ignored spaces around the house; about getting rid of what is old, unused, and ill-fitting; about creating space for fresh air and sunshine; couldn't the same be true for the inside?

My homework for the week is a cleaning list of this type of item:  What is tucked away in the Resentment Closet, located in the Past Relationship Room?  Going through the dusty file cabinet of Habitual Behaviors, aren't there some old folders that could be replaced, renamed, or burned on a bonfire?  And sorting through the Cranial CD Collection, I feel confident there are some hits I've been running in my mind for far too long now- the ones that are self-limiting and self-defeating. Ones that should have gone with the Rick Springfield cassette tapes.

Surely you have a half-empty notebook in your desk.  Take it out, find a pen among the dozens in another drawer (one that actually works) and find a blank page.  Set a timer for fifteen minutes and make your own Spring Cleaning list.  If you could make just a little more space on the inside, wouldn't that fresh air and sunshine feel amazing?

Peace,

Jill
