Namaste and Happy 2008!

I've never been great with New Years' resolutions.  I suppose this is partly due to my nature-- If I'm going to do it, I'm going to create a list four pages long of all the changes I want to make in my life, from being more patient to drinking more carrot juice.  Generally, it takes about six weeks for me to completely forget whatever I've vowed to attend to so carefully in the next twelve months. There it is: in less than two months it all goes out the window.

This year I'm taking a different approach.  With an understanding that I am a work in progress, and there will always be a lot of changes I'd like to make, what if I start this year by tending to my Self?  For every step I take toward connection, compassion and mindfulness in a broader sense, perhaps the details of getting to the gym more often and returning phone calls in a timely manner will either fall into place, or fall away according to their alignment with my Path and my intention of living a balanced, peaceful, meaningful life.

And so it is, I am embarking on a 40-Day Practice on January 8.  It's something I have done at other times of the year, with amazing results.  It takes all I've got to carve out those 30 minutes every day, but the transformation that occurs in that timeframe is remarkable.

I invite you to join me on the journey!

Peace,

Jill

40 Days of Transformation
In both ancient and classic yoga texts, as well as in modern psychology writings, it is said that it takes 40 days to create a new habit or to break an old one. And so we are offering 40 Days of Transformation.

Join us at 7:00 am, January 8 through February 16 for a 30-minute practice that includes Five Tibetan Rites, japa and a brief meditation.

As we enter into a New Year, we invite you to use this 40 Day Practice to shed the old -- old habits, negative thinking, self-defeating tendencies -- and to make a commitment to the new -- to be the change you wish to see in the world and start 2008 with a clean slate.

While we encourage you to commit to as many days as possible, you are welcome to drop in for any session.

No fee is charged for this practice; however, at the end of 40 days, you are welcome to make a donation to the studio's Karma Yoga program.
Resolution Solution
by Matthew Tarnowski

The dawning of this New Year has brushed my horizon with a deep and vibrant hue of personal resolve. This will be the year, I tell myself, that I get in incredible shape.
