  FALL INTO SOMETHING OF VALUE

Odessa Bolton, Owner

We are proud to announce Artisan's Place, a new service of Something of Value (SOV)
which supports artists.  Whether it is an artist of the spoken word, written word, visual
arts or mixed media, SOV will be a forum for African-Amerian artists to bring their work
to the community.  Look forward to upcoming events:  Indigo, Spoken Word Poet,
presents The Emerging Butterfly, Poetry & CD release reception.  See additional
information in the Community Connection section of this newsletter.

A special "Shout Out" to the McClymonds class of 1965 reunion.
As a Mackite..Class of '60, it is always heartwarming to recognize and support fellow
Mackites.

We have added a new line, "Our Own Image", take a look at the Timeless Treasures
section of this newsletter . I am sure you will find it a wonderful addition to our lines
of merchandise reflecting African-Americans. Read on for other new releases and
retired pieces.

We welcome your feedback and suggestions either for the newsletter or
merchandise for the store., send us an email, give us a call or stop by.

See you soon!

Lynne Johnson, Operations/Sales Manager

I am a native Oaklander raised in West Oakland.  I graduated from McClymonds class of '80.
I am a single parent, my son D'oroa is 22 and currently attending college.
I have worked for Something of Value 7 years and I am the Operations/Sales Manager.
It has been  a learning experience; I have learned a lot about Thomas Blackshear, Ebony
Visions, Annie Lee and the world of African-American collectibles past and present.  I enjoy
introducing people to the unique items that celebrate our culture and heritage, it's a cool shop.
So, come see us soon!
