50 Promising Kids Award to be unveiled at anniversary summit Saturday

The Skillman Foundation will announce details of a major new initiative to recognize and reward 50 promising Detroit youth -- and assist them with college tuition -- at the Foundation's Kids Matter Here Summit II at Ford Field on Saturday.

Allen named Chief Operating Officer; 3 other staff promoted

Tonya Allen has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer, Skillman Foundation President & CEO Carol Goss announced. Allen, who is the architect of the Foundation's Good Neighborhoods program, will continue to oversee all of the Foundation's grantmaking, as well as become second in command. Additionally, Goss announced three other promotions.

Goss honored by City Year Detroit

Skillman Foundation President & CEO Carol Goss will receive City Year Detroit's "Idealist in Action" award for her efforts in improving the city's schools and neighborhoods. The award, which was reported in the Chicago Tribune on Monday, will be presented to Goss on Thursday at City Year Detroit's annual benefit dinner.
