In deeply segregated region, youth find positive messages about diversity


Detroit_Youth_Consortium_logoDetroit area teenagers are learning how to convey positive messages about diversity to friends, family and classmates in this heavily segregated region through the University of Michigan's Youth Dialogues on Race and Ethnicity program, funded by The Skillman Foundation.

Their collective voices are shared in the published anthology, My Dreams are Not a Secret: Teenagers in Metropolitan Detroit Speak Out (cover, right), through narratives and poems by participants in the research project led by U-M's Barry Checkoway and Roger Fisher. Read more.

Diversity and inclusion hot topics at conference

Turning children's dreams into reality


The Detroit Free Press has kicked off its 17th annual Summer Dreams program, which partners with The Skillman Foundation in raising money for summer camps that offer children exciting opportunities. Donations made to Summer Dreams are matched dollar-for-dollar by Skillman. Read more.
