John Hanna is one very special guy. Born with Fanconi anemia and all of the "traits" of the disease, he has done well in his 38 years on earth to live a relatively normal life. He is married to the lovely Racquel, and they have two children, Katelin and Kelly.
All was going well until 2007 when John was diagnosed with cancer in the tongue.
Luckily, the cancer was "in situ" which means still contained in the
cells it originated in and had not spread; no invasion. Later that year, John went
back and had the cancer completely removed with the pathology report
indicating clear margins. Earlier this year, John was diagnosed again with cancer and has been undergoing treatment in NYC. Due to the FA being a bone marrow disorder, chemo cannot be given and John underwent radiation therapy. We are thrilled to announce that John is being released from the hospital and is going home soon to be with his family to get back to a relatively normal life!
Caddy For A Cure had the opportunity to meet John this summer at Camp Sunshine, and what a treat it was. John is one of the neatest people we have ever met and has taken life on with a greater passion than the biggest NFL lineman ever. His ever present infectious smile is a treasure to observe and a lesson for us all. We ask you to diligently pray for John and his family. The high costs of treatment are evident, and John and his family are struggling to pay their expenses. If you would, we humbly ask you to consider making a small donation to help them continue treatment to knock out this cancer.

IRISH SENSATION RORY McILROY TO CADDY FOR A CURE IN 2011
Caddy For A Cure is
proud to announce the recent addition of one of the brightest stars in the game, Rory McIlroy, to its continuing list of impressive players for the 2011 season. We all watched in awe as he tore apart a strong field at Quail Hollow and has vaulted himself into one of the top players in the world today. Someone will be joining him in Orlando at the famous Bay Hill in March 2011 for the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
McIlroy joins Ryder Cup star Luke Donald, US Open and Masters Champion Angel Cabrera, and many more to come for next year's line up.
Special note about Rory. When asked to participate with Caddy For A Cure, it took him about 3 seconds to say he would be glad to help out. Our impression is "he gets it" and in a big way. Could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Looking forward to this one, for sure.

WOUNDED WARRIORS ENJOY "CADDYING" AT THE BARCLAYS

The Barclays was recently the site of a wonderful day of honoring our brave men and women who have served our country so valiantly and given so much. Warriors Dickson Perez,
Heriberto Vidro and
Pamela Smejkal got to enjoy watching the best players in the world up close and personal "inside the ropes." Courtesy of Mr. Joe Riccardi of Knight Securities, who so generously gifted the opportunity and his time in assisting on the day filled with liquid sunshine.
A long way from the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan, we were so honored to be able to feebly say "thank you" to these wonderful men and women who have heard their call and answered it. To give them this experience was beyond inspirational. These great PGA TOUR players ALL get it and were also honored to help out in some small way.

Special thanks to Caddy For A Cure Board Member and Ridgewood Country Club member Bob Burke, who single handedly introduced many new "caddies" to the work that we are doing to support so many charities. Bubba Watson would agree that getting these warriors out to PGA TOUR events is one great way to give them a golf experience that they will never forget. With his dog "Houdini," Heriberto was thrilled to be out on the course with these players, in this environment. He had never seen golf up this close before and he wrote to us later that due to this day, he is taking up golf as a hobby. We cannot think of a better thing to do, and how thankful we are for your service to our country!!!!

LPGA girls ROCK!
We had our second event on the LPGA Tour recently at the P&G NW Arkansas Championship presented by Wal-Mart. We were overwhelmed with this group of wonderful women, sponsors, and staff of the LPGA. They could not have been nicer.
There were some that are not yet household names in the world of golf, but they are indeed in the world of life. Irene Cho so went out of her way to introduce FA and our spokesperson Christian to EVERY player that she could run up to and lay her hands on. This did not stop with world #2 Christie Kerr or Michelle Wie. It just went on non-stop for literally hours of non-stop love and attention for someone less fortunate. It was one of the kindest gestures we have seen in golf, ever.
But isn't that what makes golf so special? Of course we are biased at what a great game it is, and how people of all ages can convene and have a day outdoors together and make some great memories. But at the core of golf, it is all about character and integrity.
To me, that also means caring for those who cannot help themselves. It means doing everything you can with the means that God has provided you for the benefit of others. Many of these girls have it, and they give so much to charity, and so much to others.
The smiling face of the caddie above working with Brittany Lincicome says it all. Bad back and all, this Caddy For A Cure Board member made the trek from Minnesota to carry for one of the coolest and best players on the LPGA. With FA right there with us personally, how could you not want to "caddy for a cure?"
If you have been thinking about it, do it. You will never regret your decision.
Sincerely,
Russ Holden PGA Caddy For A Cure Founder
