NATALIE GULBIS TO
 "CADDY FOR A CURE"

Natalie 6

In a very historic moment in the life of Caddy For A Cure, we are SO excited and proud to announce that the LPGA Tour is coming on board with us. We will be kicking off our LPGA debut in grand style at the LPGA Championship presented by Wegmans on June 22nd. Not only is this a fantastic event to start with, our first superstar to participate with us will be Natalie Gulbis.

This is yet another testimony to the greatness of the game, as well as to the many hearts in this wonderful arena of sport that want to help in whatever way they can. The LPGA is such a wonderful and giving organization, and they could not have been warmer to our request to expand the program to touch more people.

Natalie 4

There are many players that we would love to offer through Caddy For A Cure and we certainly expect that to happen, but when we asked Natalie and she graciously and promptly accepted, we were elated. Not only a world class player winning around the world, Natalie is also well known for her many other endeavors off course with modeling and TV appearances, including Donald Trump's "Celebrity Apprentice."

"We are excited to launch this unique program that directly supports the charitable mission of the LPGA tournaments," states Gail Graham, retired LPGA professional and president of the LPGA Tournament Owners Association. "We are always looking for ways to get closer to our fans and this is a perfect and unique way to accomplish that, particularly with a player as popular as Natalie. As a Major, the tournament will be especially exciting, so the timing is excellent for launching Caddy For A Cure."

This experience is a perfect opportunity to treat an excellent customer with the day of their lifetime at the historic Locust Hill in Rochester, NY. It is a wonderful gift idea for the person who has everything they need, but still has "bucket list" items to check off. It would be perfect for that young and promising high school or college girl looking to make a career out of golf, and wanting to see the best of the best up close and personal. If your charitable budget allows, this is the chance to really help many who are far less fortunate, while having a great time, indeed.

Natalie 5

For the LPGA Championship, funds will be directed to the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund, the Wounded Warrior Project, the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Program, the United Way Graduation is the Goal Fund as directed by tournament sponsor, Wegmans,  and Natalie's charity, The Boys and Girls Club of Las Vegas.

Here is the link to the live auction. If you would like to do this and not go through the auction process, please feel free to make a generous offer through either the eBay vehicle, or by writing [email protected]. Pass this along to all your friends and we will see you on the bag in Rochester.

 FOCUS ON FANCONI

Henry's favorite things were Cal Ripken, Bella, marbles, Charizard, and Batman.

Henry Goldberg was unique in every way and someone who fought so hard for his ability to stay alive. He did it with an infectious smile, with tons of love and care for others, and he was not only an inspiration to the many he touched during his life, but also to millions after his passing.

Henry Goldberg 2

This is the first time we have featured an FA patient who has lost the battle with this horrific disease, Fanconi anemia. We do so for a number of reasons. This disease is so real, so devastating, so horrible, that it must be stopped. And while we met Henry Goldberg only through his lovely family, we felt the calling to tell the world what a true champion he was during his brief stay here on earth.

Henry Goldberg 3

In the recently released book entitled "Saving Henry," Henry's mother, Laurie Strongin, has done magic with her pen and feelings describing a story that none of us would ever dare to venture in. She and her husband took literally every measure known to man and to science to save Henry Goldberg, and this magnificent book tells the captivating story from start to end.

Henry Goldberg 4

Henry Goldberg was a champion, and so is this book. The efforts made by the Goldberg family, along with the many doctors around the world in attempting to save Henry are so over the top unreal, this is a must read book. Yes, it is about FA. Yes, we know the last chapter, but anyone who enjoys a read about how strong the love of a parent can be, how strong the will of a parent can be, this is for you. You will smile more than you can imagine, and yes, you will ache for this family. But, you will walk away encouraged by the advances and with a sense of hope for the future of not only FA, but ALL diseases and what modern science can achieve.

CAMILO VILLEGAS "CADDY'S FOR A CURE"
AT VERIZON HERITAGE CLASSIC

Camilo 1

Dr. Sherry Kelly become the fourth "lady" caddy recently at the Verizon Heritage Classic partnering with Camilo Villegas for a day she will never forget.

The young Colombian superstar has a heart the size of Hilton Head and made Sherry's day so wonderful, so much fun, as evidenced by the beaming smile above.

And who wouldn't be happy in a setting as beautiful as the low country, with one of the hottest golfers in the world, ALL for a great cause? The Dr. from Boca Raton will testify with an "Amen!"

GRAND GENEVA TOURNAMENT A HUGE SUCCESS

Geneva 1

Nearly 100 players braved the cool day all in the name of charity and had a blast in the shambles format. It was a "typical" Caddy For A Cure Tournament with bagpipers, magicians, and of course, great food and fun.

Geneva 2

The real winners this day were the impetus and passion of our charity, Fanconi anemia and wounded warriors. National Spokesperson and FA patient Christian Collins made the trek from Macon, Georgia to speak to the humbled crowd about his life with FA, and as always, id a terrific job indeed. The golf was of no consequence when many of the players that day met FA for the first time.

Geneva 3

Following Christian's terrific presentation came one of the most inspirational talks any of us had ever heard. Retired wounded warrior Tom Marquardt JUMPED onto the stage after playing 18 holes and told how much the Wounded Warrior Project has meant to him personally. Not a dry eye in the house when Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" played as Tom came up to receive a true American hero standing ovation as he so well deserves.

Geneva 4

So many people came through for this wonderful event. Almost too many to thank! Scott and Liz Sanders headed this project up and could not have done a better job bringing it all together. Special thanks to sponsors GFS, DMA, Reinhardt, Marcus Hotels, Kellogg's, Schreiber, and the Grand Geneva Resort. Also thanks to SpeedGel, Sharpie, JetBlue Challenge, TaylorMade, Cleveland Golf, and all the many volunteers who showed up and gave their precious time and support.

Mark your calendar for November 8th at the TPC at Eagle Trace for the Liberty Mutual Invitational supporting Caddy For A Cure. Plans are underway to have one of the most terrific events in the country and you simply do not want to miss this event!

Josh 1 Character.

This great game that we all enjoy so much is basically centered around character, integrity, and honesty. What other sport can you name that players call penalties on themselves at great cost to their career and livelihood?

When Jamey Dennis could not make his scheduled date to caddy for Boo Weekley recently at the Verizon Heritage, he still wanted to donate to charity when last minute plans kept him from participating. That is character. "Caddy For A Cure with Character" was born. Being a product of a small school and a small golf program, I know what it is like to see the "big schools" get all the goodies. I have a special place in my heart for the "small guy."

So we had a spot that was gifted and we had to find the proper person to give it to. I called fellow PGA Professional Mike Harmon at the Secession Golf Club and asked him a few questions.

"I'm looking for a boy or girl of character. He or she does not have to be the best player on the team, although they could be. I want that player with good grades, that works hard, that respects the game, respects society, and is a team player. I want that person who shows up early and stays late. The person you would like your kid to be." Mike could not have answered faster and said he knew a couple of boys that fit the bill.

Seen above is such a wonderful picture of a young man full of character, with a PGA TOUR player also of great character and respect. Josh Fickes and Boo Weekley had the day of their life enjoying the greatest game in the world, and filled with character and respect.

As those of us know deep in the game of golf, there are tons of great stories out there that never get heard. Thank goodness that this one did.
