 BOO WEEKLEY
KICKS OFF 2010
FOR CADDY FOR A CURE
AT TORREY PINES

Connell 1

What a better way to start off the new year than with one of the coolest guys in golf - Boo Weekley - at one of the best courses in the world - Torrey Pines? We started 2010 in grand  fashion for Caddy For A Cure with Connell Barrett from GOLF Magazine doing the honors.

Connell felt a bit out of place caddying for one of the best players on the planet without having a caddy "nickname." Boo jumped all over the nicknaming after one look at Connell's hair and said, "he's REDBONE" but then quickly followed it up with "Red DAWG if you screw up!"

Conneel 2

Connell was a great sport and really did a wonderful job caddying in lieu of his "day job" writing for GOLF Magazine as Editor at Large. Boo was also a great sport as Connell set out to put the fan favorite Weekley a little closer to his fan base through the GOLF.com blog.

Connell 3

Caddy For A Cure is far more than a "grunt" experience carrying the bag. You actually get to work with and partner with the player all the way round. You get to actually see what it is like at the highest levels of professional golf, and YOU are part of it on every shot. It is pretty cool when a Ryder Cup superstar says "how far we got there Redbone?" and he is depending on you for advice.

Connell 4

Connell wrote an exceptional piece on Caddy For A Cure and also added a wonderful video that appeared on GOLF.com. If you ever dreamed of how much it would be to go inside the ropes or ever dreamed of how cool Boo Weekley is to be around, you HAVE to watch this video!

So, here is YOUR chance to caddy for Boo Weekley at the Verizon Heritage in Hilton Head Island on April 14th. You can be the one to spend the day with Boo, get a nickname, enjoy Harbour Town, and at the same time, help a tremendous number of people.

 FOCUS ON FANCONI

Dalton Lundon was a healthy 5 year old little boy.  He loved getting dirty, playing in the sand, fighting like all little boys love to fight.  He loved playing with his webkinz.  He attended kindergarten and loved playing with his friends and having Mrs. Eklund as his teacher.  He was  a helpful brother to his sisters and brothers and anxiously awaiting the birth of his little brother.

Dalton 1

In March of 2009, he went to a doctors appointment in Mahnomen for a cough that he had thinking that he had what his older brother had. A short couple of weeks later, they learned that Dalton had a type of anemia they were hoping against - Fanconi Anemia. Fanconi Anemia is a genetic type of anemia so all of the Lundon children needed to be tested to see if they had it, too.

Dalton 2

Currently, Dalton receives blood transfusions approximately once a month, CBC's once a week and GCSF shots twice a week.  He still likes to play like all little boys!  He likes to get dirty, play outside, swim, and has decided now that he wants to collect webkinz so that he has a big family like his own family.  He knows somewhat of what is going on, but not everything.  He will be receiving a bone marrow transplant as soon as they find a donor.

Dalton 3

Dalton and the Lundon family are examples of why "caddying for a cure" is so important. Here was a regular family, living life in normal day to day fashion, only to have their life changed forever due to Fanconi anemia. They need answers and they need a cure. As parents, not many of us can even fathom the pain, the trials, the unexpected challenges that life has handed the Lundon family through Fanconi anemia.  Please, pray for this family and please, pray for this wonderful little boy Dalton.

ROBERT ALLENBY TO CADDY FOR A CURE AT HONDA CLASSIC

Allenby 1

The opportunity of a lifetime is a week away for Eileen Young as she "caddies for a cure" in Palm Beach Gardens at PGA National during the Honda Classic.

Robert is currently ranked 14th in the world and has had a brilliant start to the 2010 season. But golf is not the only arena in which Allenby shines. In addition to supporting Caddy For A Cure, Robert has a true heart for helping others, so much so that he established and is actively involved in his own charity to support childhood cancer.

Robert recently had some very nice things to say about his experiences with Caddy For A Cure on the Honda Classic Radio Show with host Russ Evans. It is one and a half minutes, so please give a quick listen to the link below.

THE FIGHT CONTINUES TO CURE FA
WITH STAR-POWER PLAYERS UP FOR GRABS
 AT THE 2010 VERIZON HERITAGE

As we get ready to head back up to the low country in beautiful Hilton Head Island for the Verizon Heritage, it didn't take long for Ernie Els' bag to get snatched up. We no sooner listed the auction than a man in South Florida purchased the opportunity as a surprise birthday gift for his wife. She was thrilled with the gift and they are counting down the days to the big event.

Although Ernie is sold, we also have defending Champion Brian Gay and former two-time Verizon champion, Boo Weekley, still available.  You simply cannot go wrong with us at this event. Are you one of the potential buyers who is watching the auctions? Stealing the catchy Nike slogan, "just do it!'

Stay tuned - The 2010 player list will continue to grow as we line up the best golfers in the world to "Caddy For A Cure."

With all the distractions within the world of golf recently that we are all so familiar with, a few things remain clear to me.

There are countless lives and families out there that do not care about the news of indiscretions and other tabloid type happenings. Their very world is crumbling around them and they need our help, the game's help, to endure.

The other thing that is clear to me is that the game of golf is great and it is far bigger than anything that can happen with a player, or even several players. The pure essence of being outdoors, the enjoyment of striking a good shot, the opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends, is alive and well.

Lastly, it is imminently clear to me that the best players in the world are also great guys. It is nearly unfathomable to me how these great players always want to help. These are the most gifted golfers on the planet, playing for lives and careers, and yet, they will stop for a day to have an amateur have the thrill of carrying the bag and work with them. In the midst of stardom and success, they still care.

To see an Ernie Els, a Boo Weekley, a Rich Beem, a Robert Allenby, and the list goes on for a long time, step up and want to participate with Caddy For A Cure is a statement about the players and the game. These golfers care about people, and the game is great in the vehicle it provides to assist.

Please forward this to your golf friends, to your club membership, to anyone you know and truly, inexpensively, quickly, help families like the Lundon's of North Dakota and "Caddy For A Cure."

        Sincerely,

        Russ Holden PGA
