 PGA CHAMPIONSHIP A
MAJOR SUCCESS

Faeh 1

One of the defending PGA champions and an all around VERY cool guy, Rich Beem, took time out of his busy schedule to allow TWO caddies to participate with Caddy For A Cure at Hazeltine in Chaska, Minnesota last week.

With the economy being what it is, we are seeing more and more tandem participation between caddies: People getting creative  to experience everything being "inside the ropes" has to offer while giving to charity, but easing the stress on the pocketbook. Joe Faeh and Tuan Schneider did just that and both had a great time with Rich.

Tuan 1

Tuan is the President of the Asian American Golf Association, staunch supporters of Caddy For A Cure.  In addition to meeting winner and fellow Asian, YE Yang, Tuan was able to meet many other Asian golfers during his Caddy For A Cure experience. Being able to banter on the range with Anthony Kim was indeed a moment Tuan will never forget.

Faeh 2

Joe Faeh is a very good player in his own right and was deeply intrigued by how the best players in the world do it during a practice round. Learning about shot selection and how to prepare for a Major Championship was over the top cool for Joe. "Thank you for the best golf experience I could ever imagine" was Joe's comment after the round.

It was reported that there were more people at Hazeltine during the Monday round than are at most PGA TOUR weekend rounds. That statistic was certainly not a question whatsoever as golf starved Minnesota fans enjoyed the gorgeous day at Hazeltine. What a perfect opportunity it was to have the chance to caddy for a Major Champion.

Lan 1

In addition to his caddy experience, Tuan had the luxury of being able to hang around afterward with his 11 year old daughter, Lan. Look at the smile on her face while she shook the hand of the world's #1 player, Tiger Woods. Yep, she and Tuan got to meet a whole slew of great players and world class guys.

Tiger, Sergio, Stewart, hey, all great names and a great time. But the MOST important thing is our passion and reason for existing. MANY players were able to hear about and learn the words FANCONI ANEMIA. A horrible disease that is devastating to the families it touches, with Lan's hard work we were honored to see the world's best players sign right above the Fanconi logo - they couldn't miss it!

Lan 3

Look closely at the signatures of the world's best players. How grateful we are that they have embraced the Caddy For A Cure program and how humbled we are to be able to provide these life changing experiences.

 FOCUS ON FANCONI

This month's feature on Fanconi is a stark reminder to us all how precious life is. We have heard many times that we should abandon Fanconi Anemia as our "charity of choice" as it is "too small" for anyone to rally around and get any support for. We say hogwash. Fanconi anemia is a deadly disease and to those who are touched by it, it is the world.

Dylan 1

We regretfully pass along that our featured "Focus on Fanconi" patient for March of this year, Dylan Moore, passed away on July 21st at 8 years of age. So, instead of featuring a new family this month, we would like to honor Dylan and the incredibly tough battle he fought and give our warmest thoughts and prayers to his family who miss him so. We at Caddy For A Cure are devastated by this passing, but know that Dylan is enjoying his time in heaven and his family will see him soon enough.

This is a poem that was made for Dylan's funeral. How wonderful it is...

"Dylan"

Dylan won; He did beat all odds,
You see, He went on home to live with God.
The angels came and took him away,
His battle with FA ended yesterday.

His little body had been through enough,
A brave little cowboy, his life was rough.
Each day was a battle, but yet he would smile,
His story was followed mile after mile.

His family grieved and hid the tears they cried,
Mom and Dad, through it all, right by his side.
Each day with him tore their world apart,
They never once let him see it was breaking their hearts.

Dylan was a miracle I have no doubt,
He has taught so many others what prayer is all about.

The world has followed Dylan's story,
From the time it started till yesterday, as he went home in glory.
His Mom and Dad posted a website for the world to see,
Not everyday of Dylan's life was a tragedy.

Oh yes, he had bad days, but he also had good,
Surrounded by people doing everything they could.
Dylan's happy now, free'd from all pain,
So stop those tears that are falling like rain.

If you close your eyes I know you will see,
Dylan sitting on Jesus' knee.
They're laughing and talking man to man,
And Jesus is holding Dylan's hand.

The angels have gathered all around,
As they watch Jesus present Dylan his crown.
His angel wings, oh yes, fit snug as a glove,
Dylan is surrounded by the Father's Love!!

STEWART CINK, CAMILO VILLEGAS TO "CADDY FOR A CURE" AT
FEDEX CUP PLAYOFFS

When we went up to Stewart Cink to congratulate him on his Open Championship, he humbly accepted the congrats, but then immediately uttered the words "when are we going to do Caddy For A Cure this year?" Pretty much says it all that this great player and champion of men is well grounded and has a heart as big as a Claret Jug. He joins Anthony Kim, Camilo Villegas, and Boo Weekley for the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston.

I am always amazed at what a great "game" the game of golf is. I don't know of any other sport that comes even close to golf for its "friend-making" aspect.

As we look back on six years of caddy experiences, each and every participant has remained a friend in every sense of the word. It is always heart warming to hear from a person who caddied five years ago, as well as hearing from those who just caddied this past month. What is most unique is how each one takes on a life of its own in very individual ways, but ALL are committed to charity and specifically to Fanconi anemia after their experience with us.

This year's Majors were really cool for us. It was wonderful to see the eyes of Michael, Joe, and Tuan as they experienced golf in its finest hours during the pressure cooker of Major championships. Fun to see indeed. But what is way cooler is the frequent text messages I get from all three, and their phone calls I get as they still fondly remember their day of fun. A day of fun from which memories will last for years to come.

While incredibly saddened to hear about Dylan Moore and Alicia Reed's grandmother, Michelle Colgan, it sparks our passion even more to help with this disease in any way we can.

I can only encourage you to purchase a Caddy For A Cure experience. Do it for your best customer, your father, your brother, your boss, your college graduate. Just do it, you will not regret it one iota.

        Sincerely,

        Russ Holden PGA
