Robert Thiessen Caddies for US Open Champion Retief Goosen at Memphis
Canadian Robert Thiessen joined the Caddy for a Cure "family" this past week in Memphis at the Stanford St. Jude Championship.
The 57 year young executive from Toronto carried the bag the entire 18 holes and had the time of his life with one of the best players in the world.
Retief, being the gentleman that he is, was a pure joy to be around as he hit shot after shot, showing Robert why he is ranked as one of the top 5 players in the world.
Helped immensely by world class caddie and nice guy Colin Byrne, Robert did an excellent job at his first attempt at looping and fulfilled a dream and passion he has had for years.
"I want to play Augusta, Pebble Beach, and a few other things.....but this was one of my dreams for a long time and I am so grateful to have been able to do this," said Robert after his terrific day with Retief.
Thiessen also went on to say, "This is something I will never forget and will definitely do again!"
St. Jude Children's Hospital was the Host Site charity recipient this week. What a special privilege it was for Caddy For A Cure to know how many families will be helped as a result of Robert's great day.

CADDY FOR A CURE CHARITY SPOTLIGHT: FANCONI ANEMIA RESEARCH FUND
Caddy for a Cure is proud to have the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund as one of its main recipients each week from the proceeds. FA has benefited greatly from CFAC, not only financially, but also from increased awareness around the world about this lethal disease.
Because of the research sponsored by the Fund, youngsters with FA now have a much greater likelihood of surviving bone marrow transplants. Additionally, thirteen Fanconi anemia genes have now been identified, including one (FANCDI) that is identical to one of the breast cancer susceptibility genes, BRCA2. Further research has ascertained that the FA genes play a key role in genomic stability and DNA repair, thus making research into FA applicable not only to the FA patients in the world, but to millions who acquire such cancers as breast, ovarian, prostate, and pancreatic. Thus, funds raised for FA potentially benefit millions. The Fanconi Anemia Research Fund has also been awarded Charity Navigator's highest rating, Four Stars, for its stewardship of donated funds.
Christian and Calen Collins are easily defined as some of CFAC's best friends, but more importantly as the impetus behind Caddy For A Cure and what has turned in to something that is generating much good for many.
