Tip #1  Where to Book and Play Golf in Ireland

Ireland Golf Course - County DownAll thoughts turn to Ireland on St. Patrick's Day. Can you just picture the rolling green vistas spilling down to the sea? And many of us can't think about all that glorious emerald turf without wistfully dreaming about a game of golf. Perhaps nowhere else on earth is golf loved quite as much as it is in Ireland. With over 440 courses across the country, Ireland boasts fully one third of all links courses in the world! And almost as famous as their magnificent fairways, are the 19th hole watering stops to tip a pint in the clubhouse with the locals. There will surely be smiles all around.

Here's where to turn to get your golf vacation in the works:

Adare Manor
Atlantic Golf
Absolutely Golf & Travel
Celtic Golf Destination Golf
Diamond in the Rough Golf
Doombeg Golf Club
Druids Glen Golf Resort

Tip #2  A Reved Up Country Club For Your Favorite Guy

PorcheLittle boys zoom toy race cars across the living room rug as surely as little girls cuddle their baby dolls. Way before guys are old enough to get a drivers license, the dream of taking a pricey performance car out on a race track is a lifelong dream. We all imagine swooshing around corkscrew curves every time we see a new car commercial on TV. But where can our favorite road machine be let loose without earning a huge speeding ticket that will haunt us for the next 6 years on our car insurance???

A new breed of Race Track Country Clubs have been opening across the United States for motor sport enthusiasts to bring their new Porsche, BMW, vintage Vet, or perhaps a Harley, to blow off some steam. Begun in 1996 in Ft. Worth Texas, The MotorSport Ranch was the first to pioneer this new concept in Country Clubs. They encourage motor sport fans to "Think of MotorSport Ranch as a place to go to satisfy that "need for speed". Many people own a sports or high performance car, or even a vintage race car. The Ranch is a place to explore the potential of these cars and for the drivers to develop and practice their skills."  (MORE)

Tip #3  Spring in Savannah is Devine!

Savannah GeorgiaIf you haven't visited Savannah in the springtime, WHAT are your waiting for?? While this sultry city welcomes sightseers all year round, the months of March, April and May are especially enchanting. Take a fragrant walk through winding brick pathways and magnificent parks to bring back glimpses of southern living in all its glory. With the warm breezes of spring, Savannah puts on it's finery. Magnolia lined streets and wisteria lanes beckon you to take a carriage ride through history. Explore Savannah's 21 historic squares, retrace the steps of Forest Gump or investigate the intrigues of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

Tip # 4 Get Creative on Vacation

watercolor paintsAt least once a year I like to learn a new skill or improve on an old favorite. That sends me searching for a cooking school in Tuscany, an art workshop in Santa Fe, a writers workshop or maybe even golf lessons. I don't know about you, but for me in the Northeast, the winter has been long, snowy and yes, a bit boring. As I flip through seed catalogs, I just can't wait to get outside and 'do things'. I envision a spring and summer filled with fun, exuberance, and enlightening adventures.

Have a peak at one of my favorite websites Shaw Guides. These industrious folks have put together a directory of more than 6,000 learning vacations and workshops worldwide. You can search by interest, location, or month. They have listings for Language Schools, Cooking Schools, Photography Programs, Golf and Tennis Camps, and Creative Programs of every description. Wow, maybe I'll send Clint to a boat building workshop in Maine, while I scoot off to Snow Farm in the Berkshires to learn a new craft. We both NEED a new project, right!!!
