|
Venture Island-North State entrepreneur competition launched its second annual competition with a special event called
"The Whole Pina Colada" on June 23.
The event showcased several successful innovative product companies in the North State.
The Venture Island competition process includes a series of four challenges. The first challenge, "the Trading Post," took place July 23 at the N.T. Enloe Conference Center. In this challenge each entrepreneur was given two minutes to pitch his or her company to a panel of esteemed
judges from the investor and professional business communities. At the conclusion of
the event, companies were stack ranked based on their presentations
and the top companies earned the night's prize and bonus points for
the next round.
The top ranked pitch from "the Trading Post" was Novasyte followed by, Save Our Skins, Telecom Lifters, Cable Master, and MyIndependentContractor.com
The next challenge, "the Snake Pit," will take place September 10 also at the N.T. Enloe Conference Center. This challenge will consist of a 3-minute role-play session in which each contestant will be challenged by a
special guest CEO or investor on a specific business topic. The judges will then comment on
their impressions of each role-play session and, along with the audience,
narrow the group of contestants who move on to "Make or
Break Beach".

CEPCO to Partner With Credentify on Come Home to Chico Site Redesign |
The Come Home to Chico
campaign is pleased to announce a partnership with Credentify to enhance the
abilities and appearance of our website.
Credentify is developing a job board to promote jobs that are difficult
to fill.
The website is designed to recruit and retain top level talent in the innovation
and technology sectors in Chico. This board will improve recruitment efforts
as well as open communication channels between Chico businesses looking to raise the
critical mass of talent in the innovation and technology clusters.
Come Home
to Chico is posting testimonials of Chico State
Graduates who have "Come Home to Chico." These testimonials (click here) are
vital to our effort of bringing graduates back to our beautiful town and to
inform those interested in moving here just how much opportunity exists in Chico.
If you have a "Come
Home to Chico" story of your own, or know
someone with one, please contact Matt Robertson, CEPCO Project Manager,
for information regarding posting on the Come Home to Chico testimonials page.
