City of Oroville offers free workshop and assistance for microenterprise businesses
The City of Oroville will be featuring a free workshop for upcoming and existing microenterprise businesses on Tuesday, and since pre-registration is required, time is running out. Microenterprise businesses include five or fewer employees, including the owner.

Participants in the workshop will learn from experts in their fields about the importance of doing a market analysis, "dos" and "don'ts" in making a business plan, understanding financial projections and the bottom line.  The Business Assistance Coordinator for the City will briefly discuss some of the business and technical assistance services available through the City of Oroville as well as other local service providers; he will also touch on some of the important issues many business owners tend to overlook.

This program is only for businesses located within the city limits or those planning to move to Oroville. It goes from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will be at Checkers Restaurant, on the corner of Table Mountain Boulevard and Grand Avenue.

Any questions can be directed to Diana Wyles or Rick Farley at (530) 538-2534.
Facebook Live: Progress continues, as group comes up with statement of purpose
FacebookThe Facebook Live - Chico group has developed a statement of purpose, another sign that the local movement is gaining momentum. We now have 253 people signed on the Facebook Live - Chico page on Facebook.com.

That statement is: "Facebook Live Chico leverages the power of social media to enroll our neighbors in an inclusive series of open forums to define a shared vision and creative process for celebrating diversity, promoting prosperity, and cultivating leadership to evolve Chico as a sustainable community in which to live, learn, work, and play."

The first meeting brought about ideas on how to make the Chico area's lifestyle better, for individuals and businesses alike. A meeting Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 4:30 p.m. at Uptime Co-Working Studio will continue that progress.

Meetings are open to the public, but don't feel that meetings are the only ways to contribute. Just by keeping up with the discussion posts and submitting your help and ideas on the Facebook page, you're helping the effort.

You can visit the page and join the group by clicking here. You must have a Facebook account to join.
