Uptime is up and running, grand opening celebration scheduled for Thursday

Chico's first coworking studio is in business now and Alan Chamberlain of Golden Capital Network is inviting guests to come check out a fresh new idea for professionals. The festivities begin Thursday  at 4 p.m. and will take place at Uptime, located at the corner of First and Salem streets, in the Celestino's building. The address is 101 Salem St., Suite 240.

Uptime1You can take a look at Uptime's new Web site by clicking here.  And Chamberlain is collecting RSVPs for the event, which can be submitted by clicking here. Here's an excerpt detailing what Uptime is all about:

"Uptime is professional office space and systems for use whenever you need them, on the site or on the road. A large conference room with remote presence, a data center with state of the art document management systems, private workrooms, open plan tables and chairs, a comfortable conversation pit, a presentation theater, and a support team are at your disposal when and as needed. It is a community of interest for independent contributors with the resources of a large company.

"Uptime is an exclusive private club where nomadic professionals work on tasks, produce deliverables, meet with clients, uptime location customers, and team members, or just relax and catch up on reading, without the distractions and limited privacy of the home environment or public settings such as a café."

It's an office for people who don't have an office, and memberships are available by the month or by the day. The Chico News & Review profiled the business and you can see that article by clicking here. Call 893-8828 if you want more information on Uptime.
CEPCO Job Creation Committee and City Technology Group have new blogs
Bob In order to keep committee members abreast of the activity of the Job Creation Committee and Technology Group, we have developed a blog that will communicate the agendas and action notes from meetings. There is also an opportunity for members to comment on the topics of the agenda. Bob Linscheid (left) is the verbal artist of both blogs but he's always looking to hear from people in the community who are interested in new ideas.

Please feel free to provide input on the blogs via comment or by sending emails to Bob at bob@wemanage.org.

Technology clusters will be the hot topic at Nov. 6 CEPCO Job Creation meeting
The same Power Point presentation that Bob Linscheid and Ken Naas took to the City of Chico Economic Development Committee will be the focal point of the Nov. 6 CEPCO Job Creation Committee meeting, which is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. at Uptime coworking studio, 101 Salem St. on the second floor.

The 35-slide presentation details some of Chico's top tech companies, like the following: Auctiva, Sungard PS, Improvement Direct, Travidia, Patholase, Landacorp, Netguava, Learning Change, Altivation, Local Elements and Digital Path, to name a few.

"The technology sector for the most part is comprised of new companies that must have talent in highly skilled positions in order to grow. ... Wages exceed the local average."
