PHD NewsCenter Header 2011

May 2012

Greetings!

This month marks PHD's 55th anniversary! A heartfelt "thank you" goes to all of our employees, their families, our community, and the customers and partners we have done business with. We have built our business on the trust you have shown us over the last 55 years, and we are committed to serving you for many years to come.

May is here, and our product spotlight shines on our Series 160 Escapements. Automation systems operate very quickly, but usually on just one part at a time. PHD helps your system singulate items for processing.

This month, we take another look at the PHD Plus™ line of automation devices. Our electrically driven cylinders and slides, along with "Your Motor, Your Way" could be just the right alternative to traditional pneumatically powered automation.

Rounding out May, we are proud to introduce PHD's Facebook page - the perfect place to keep up on all things PHD!

To your continued automation success,

The PHD Team

Series 160 Escapements   One part please... just one!

Vibratory bowl feeders and tracks are fantastic at delivering a constant string of parts with the right side up and other features in just the right orientation. But then we have to further process them, just one part at a time. That's where PHD Series 160 Escapements show their stuff.

Available in both standard and heavy duty versions, these unique devices are ideal for isolating and feeding components to various assembly and staging stations. The standard model features hardened, ground, and plated alloy steel rods riding on hardcoated with PTFE body bearing surfaces. The heavy duty version also includes fluoropolymer composite bearing strips for additional load and wear-resistant capacity. One of the key features of all models is the internal cross-porting requiring only one 4-way air valve for both piston driven rods. The other key feature is the internal sequence pin which mechanically prevents one rod from retracting until the other rod extends, thus ensuring the proper singulating function.

Additional options include provisions for PHD proximity switches, travel adjustment for the retract position, and internal flow controls for tuning the actuation velocity.
