November 2010

Greetings!

For November, we feature PHD's Series RL Rotary Actuators. Low cost, high torque, and a wide range of sizes for most any rotary motion you need.

This month, our application focus is on PHD's Automatic Labeling Solutions. Our Unlimited Unique Solutions group has a few products available just for these process specific applications.

Also in November we take a look at PHD's Design Process Guide. An interactive tool that offers PHD's assistance all along your design path.

To your continued success!

Series RL Rotary Actuators ... Low Cost and Versatile!

If your automation application calls for basic rotary motion at a low cost, but with lots of torque, take a look at PHD's Series RL Rotary Actuator  Offered in eight bore sizes from 12 mm to 63 mm, these robust units feature high axial and radial bearing capacities in an OEM style package. But don't let their looks deceive. They still have PHD's high quality with built-in features such as acetal wear pads on the rack bearing surfaces along with acetal pistons minimizing wear related metal to metal contact.
 Series RL Rotary Actuators

Series RL Rotary Actuators also feature a great torque to package size ratio along with a hard-coated aluminum body and anodized aluminum end caps to minimize weight. Additional options include hydraulic shock absorbers, pneumatic cushions, or shock pads for either or both ends of travel. The rugged one-piece high strength alloy steel pinion shaft is available with a standard keyway in either a single or double shaft variation.

Some of the typical industries this actuators serves are automotive, machine builders, labeling and packaging, and just about any place where low cost and high torque are required.

Are You Labeling?

Do your responsibilities include engineering, designing, or maintaining labeling equipment? If so, PHD's Unlimited Unique Solutions group has designed and developed several different actuators specifically for your industry.

PHD Tamp Slide Brochure
Simple Tamp or Tamp/Blow applications can be easily accommodated with PHD Tamp Slides. Features such as built-in guide shafts and bearing support provide torsional stability eliminating twist at end of travel.

The Tamp Slide's tool plate design allows for easy mounting of tamp pads. A built-in vacuum port transfers vacuum directly to the tamp pad through the tool plate, eliminating external lines and line movement within the label application area.

PHD also offers a more precise Rotary Actuator as a replacement for an OEM unit used to retract the glue pot on numerous labeling machines.

Look to PHD's Unlimited Unique Solutions group to assist you with a wide variety of linear, rotary, and gripping applications in the labeling and packaging industry.
Shorten Your Design Process !

Do your duties include design or engineering? How about purchasing, quality or engineering documentation? If you're involved in any of these activities then PHD has a tool for you! PHD's Design Process Guide can lead you through the many steps of designing and implementing automation components into your next machine.

PHD Design Process Guide

In the early stages of design, the interactive guide will direct you to helpful tools such as PHD's Sizing Software or provide links to Product Detail Pages in our Productivity Solutions Catalog. Progressing further, it can escort you to Application Examples or an electronic Application Assistance form.

As you continue into the Concept or Detail Deign stages the guide provides links to PHD's online CAD Configurator. For Industrial Engineers or machine builders needing to provide documentation the guide will provide a path to extensive replacement parts lists and exploded views of PHD's automation actuators.
