Are You Prepared for a Major Disaster?

September is National Preparedness Month, and the ASPCA estimates that 35% of pet parents don't have a plan to protect their beloved animals in an emergency.  Are you ready?  Take their Preparedness Quiz to find out.

Check out this handy page of tips for disaster preparedness.  It includes information for those who care for birds, reptiles, and small mammals, as well as dogs and cats.

Did you know that Rabies is the most deadly

infectious disease on earth?

Fact:  55,000 people die from Rabies every year,

most of them children under the age of 15.

CCHS thanks the Global Alliance for Rabies Control for its recent donation of 250 Rabies vaccines!  The vaccines will be administered to the pets of low-income citizens of Champaign and Douglas Counties participating in Central Illinois Animal Welfare Coalition low-cost spay/neuter programs.

Happy Dog

Angie McQueen adopted Faith from CCHS in December 2010, after spotting her on our website.  Faith is now Angie's best buddy!  Whether they're going out for a run or curling up to watch their favorite programs on t.v., they're doing it together.

WANTED:  A Home for Dori

Pet of the Month

Dori has been at CCHS waiting for her forever home since April 29, 2010!  We can't explain why she hasn't been adopted, but maybe it's because she is so relaxed and mellow in our Catnap Cafe, that she just doesn't call attention to herself.

Dori is a spayed female, Tortie-Manx mix, about 6 years old.  She is affectionate and playful and loves to have her belly rubbed.

Watch a video of Dori's TV debut.
