Dear Supporter,

I can't tell you how pleased I am to be launching the CCHS electronic newsletter!  We hope you'll enjoy this monthly missive containing short stories about our animals, activities, employees, and volunteers.  Although we confront many challenges and unfortunate circumstances in our work at CCHS, we also meet wonderful people and are witness to great generosity each and every day.  I look forward to sharing some of these positive experiences with you all.

Very truly yours,
Tief

Pet of the Month

Ciel and Sandy Ciel and Sandy

Meet Ciel and Sandy! You might have heard that one ferret is fun, but let us tell you - two ferrets make a PARTY!  Ciel and Sandy love to play with toys.  Their favorite game is ping-pong ball soccer.  They are very soft and like gentle petting.  Sometimes they nip a little, but it's all in good fun.  They would tell you, "It's just what ferrets do!"  Ciel and Sandy love each other and have lived together their whole lives.  We hope they'll find a forever home together.
Employee of the Month

Karen Simmons Karen Simmons

Karen always goes above and beyond to make sure that CCHS animals get the care they need.  Her hard work and enthusiasm played a huge role in the success of the Cat Nip/Tuck Day spay/neuter clinics.  On a daily basis, Karen keeps the Surgery Suite running smoothly for Shelter Veterinarian, Dr. Jen Stone.  She is a wonderful asset to CCHS.  Thank you, Karen, for all that you do!

Pratt Stefanie Pratt - Chair of Fur Ball 2008

Stefanie started working on the Fur Ball back in January, and thanks to her efforts, the September 26th event was a great success!  Everyone in attendance enjoyed the food, the music, and the festive atmosphere.  Stefanie made it look effortless, but we know that it took countless hours to oversee the details and bring her vision to life.  We're grateful to Stefanie for her positive attitude; her time and energy; and most of all her, her passion for CCHS.

The Fur Ball logoThis year's dinner/auction event was a big success!  We raised over $50,000 and we had fun doing it.  Our thanks to all the donors, diners, bidders, and buyers who came out to support our cause.

Animal Shelter Appreciation Week

National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week The first week of November (Nov. 2 - 8) is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week.  This campaign was designed to acknowledge and promote the invaluable role shelters play in their communities and to increase public awareness of animal welfare issues and shelter services.

If you'd like to send a message of appreciation to CCHS, email it to director@cuhumane.org.  We'll post your messages at the shelter where staff, volunteers, and patrons will see them.
