Tip of the Week
Hazelnuts

When cooking or baking with hazelnuts, it is best to use raw nuts. Dry roasted hazelnuts are ideal for salads, pesto, etc.

Don't miss the opportunity to get some last minute goodies from your favorite vendors before they finish their 2007 season. While most of our vendors will be participating in the November markets, this is the last weekend for some.

We also want to say a special THANK YOU to those of you who braved the rain last weekend to support your neighborhood farmers' market!

Pet Parade

Annual Pet Parade

Bring your costumed four-legged friends to the Hollywood Farmers' Market this Saturday for our annual Pet Parade. The ghoulish stroll will begin at the information booth at 10:30 am. Don't have a pet? Costumed children and adults are also welcome to join in the fun. Prizes will be awarded to the top three doggie disguises.

Please remind Fido to be on his best behavior while strutting his stuff. Keep your pets on a short leash and pack an extra plastic bag.

Mosaique Brings Jazzy Touch to Market

MosaiqueMosaique is a group of Portland musicians who love music and who love making music together for our NW audiences. In a mosaic, pieces of beauty are combined to create a larger masterpiece. Mosaique, too, combines pieces of musical beauty into an ensemble sound, creating a masterpiece of tones, voice, strings, skins and keys, each impeccably placed in the breathtaking whole.

The music of Mosaique displays the best in jazz, funk, latin and pop standards, from eras spanning the 20th and early 21st centuries. We are not limited to one style, though jazz is the primary medium through which our songs are interpreted. The listener will hear the standards of Ella and Frank, but also Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan, all given a unique, Mosaique touch. We have played all over town and currently can be found in Milwaukie and downtown Portland. Check out our website at
www.mosaiquejazz.com for song clips, bios, and upcoming performances.

Mosaique's lead singer, Thea Enos (pictured above), is a regular market day volunteer.
Join her at the Hollywood Farmers' Market this Saturday for a jazzy celebration of the fall harvest.
The Crabapple Company
Featured Vendor: The Crabapple Company

The Crabapple Company came about as a way for two moms to spend the day at the local farmers' market selling our homemade products. We started with our Grandma Leona's green pepper jelly recipe, which had always been a crowd pleaser at holiday gatherings. When the pepper jelly became a hit, we decided to add a personal twist to other family favorites and developed recipes for a variety of products our customers love.

"Condiments are like old friends; highly thought of, but often taken for granted." We love this quote by author Marilyn Kaytor. Our motto is "Good Food Compliments" because we think our delicious products are an easy way to make your good food even better. We believe the food we make is a lot like us: a little bit fancy but totally accessible.

We've watched our loyal market customers use Crabapple Company products for years and we know you will love them too. Stop by the Hollywood Farmers' Market this Saturday to sample our wide range of products including: Mango Pepper Jelly, Pear Pepper Jelly, Champagne Mustard, Balsamic Syrup, Cranberry Ginger Chutney, Mediterranean Spread, Garden Fresh Pico, Verde Honeydew Salsa and Roasted Garlic Hummus.

Thank you for your support - we truly do appreciate it.
