 EDITORIAL

The Texas Wildlife Association Convention was held in San Antonio this month at the Hill Country Hyatt. Over 1,000 passionate wildlife and hunting enthusiasts attended, celebrating our hunting and private landowner heritages that make Texas a unique state. As Treasurer of this organization, comprising over 5,000 members, I was proud to be a part of our 25th anniversarym celebration. It was especially interesting to hear Steve Lewis and David Langford chronicle the 25 year life of TWA, from the genesis that sparked the birth of the organization, to the struggles that helped shaped the character of TWA. Similarly, it was very enlightening to see the videotaped clips with the past presidents, and to hear their remarks of events that characterized their respective terms.

TWA is a great organization, working 24/7 for all individuals of Texas, whether they realize it or not. Our efforts stretch well beyond working to protect our hunting heritage, and private property rights, with our education and outreach programs effectively addressing natural resource literacy issues for youth and adults. Wild place, wild things, and an appreciation for what these things mean to our society is often underscored by our general public, and TWA works tirelessly in educating folks about the integral role that natural resources play in the health of our society, and we also work toward trying to bridge the gap between urbanites and our rural lifestyles, so that city folks have an appreciation for what ag producers are often challenged with in terms of providing food and fiber for all individuals of our society. Go to www.texas-wildlife.org for more information about this great organization. Anyone who is interested in wildlife, private property rights, and hunting should be a member of TWA.

The primary body of this WSI ENews is to provide you with information and photos of some of the whitetail hunts that WSI offers. We are showcasing 3 of our whitetail properties here, but bear in mind that we do offer hunts on other properties as well, with differing prices between each property.

Texas has long been considered one of the, if not THE, preeminent destinations for white-tailed deer hunting. With over 4 million whitetails, plus a history of intensive management, Texas is a top destination to pursue quality bucks. Add to the mix, large blocks of private land for your pleasure, unique cultural characteristics that make Texas special, and top it off with good service....well, let's just say that is a good recipe for a great deer hunting experience.

Please give us a call if you would like to discuss dates. Whether you are an individual, or if you have a group, I am certain we can pick out a suitable hunt. And with the plentiful rains that Texas has received over the last several months, we are expecting an antler growing season that should be one of the best in several years.

So don't be a stranger. Give us a shout or drop us an email if you would like to discuss some options. Don't forget to join WSI as a friend on Facebook, so that you can keep up with our miscellaneous activities and news.

Cheers,
Greg Simons
