EDITORIAL |

Well,so far so good! Greg hasn't referred to me as an Achilles heel, yet! And, when and if he does, I'm not sure how to take it. On a side note I do think both he and Ruben are jealous of the facial hair, which I can understand.
As I begin week 4, I feel that I am starting to hit a comfortable stride. The website hasn't shut down, we are booking hunts daily, and the rangeland still looks good. Now I'm starting to tackle the newsletter, and while Greg will handle the editorials in the future, I'll take on writing much of the content.
It hasn't taken long to get an understanding of how much respect Greg, Deborah, Ruben and the WSI clients have for Alice. Daily, people were either stopping by the office or calling to tell Alice good-by and thanks for all the help. I was fortunately receiving many warm welcomes as well. With that being said, it is easy to tell that I am working for a very well respected company and with a group of true professionals.
To say the least, our hunters are important to us. As the great Jeffrey Gitomer would say, "customer satisfaction is worthless, customer loyalty is priceless". The loyalty of WSI clients that I have seen to date is astounding; as we book and rebook long standing clients.
The facts about WSI I believe are worth mentioning again. WSI has been in the business for 23 years, has hosted well over 9,000 clients, and works with over 600,000 acres of private property in Texas. That is quite impressive!
I am excited about my new position with WSI, and I am looking forward to continuing to settle into my position. Please let me know if there is anything that we can do to serve your needs. And bear with me while I get more familiar with our client base, and with all the folks we work with.
Yours Truly,
Justin Bryan |

BIOLOGICALLY SPEAKING
As wildlife biologists, we are constantly praying for rain and evaluating the habitat. It falls under the principle of, "if you build it, they will come." The other part of the equation is the animals, genetically speaking. We strive to create the right population supporting quality genetics in combination with the right dynamics of food, water, and cover. When all of that comes together it makes for some great hunting.
Currently we are on the fringe of one of those great years. Our south Texas properties continue to catch large amounts of rain and we still have the hurricane season to go. Antler growth should be exceptional, turkey nest success likewise, and the nilgai will be thriving. West Texas as well continues to catch evening showers which will prove well for mule deer antler growth and fawn survival. The San Angelo area is holding its own and benefitting from a great winter and spring that was full of moisture. Needless to say, antler growth is very good and turkey/quail nest success appears to excellent.
To hunt or not hunt...you know we will tell it like it is. This is the year to hunt!
FACEBOOK
Following much discussion, WSI has officially made the leap to Facebook. We feel that it will provide us with an excellent tool to share some of the daily happenings that occur here in the office as well as in-the-field, such as early season trail cam photos and helicopter surveys, and news from the outdoor industry that we feel is relevant to our friends and clients. We will also share information on recently acquired hunting properties. To find us search "Wildlife Systems" on Facebook.
In appreciation of our Facebook friends, WSI will be awarding newly designed WSI hats to Friends #10, 20, 30, 40, 60, 70, 80, and 90.
* Gameguard/WSI shirts will be given to Friends 50 and 100.
* First 100 will be entered into a drawing for a WSI Spring Turkey Hunt.
* Grand Prize, if we number 500 friends before Dec.31, 2010 all names will be entered into a drawing for a Classic Buck Hunt on the LaRucia Ranch, valued at $3,650!!!
Winners to date:

STERLING COUNTY LEASE |
If you are in the market for a great, year-around hunting lease, you may want to take a look at this. Comprising 6,075 acres, this property sits in the heart of well over 50,000 acres of country that is managed for wildlife and hunting, much of which is under the same ownership.
Quality deer, excellent quail, and limited turkey numbers are the primary game here. This landowner has received many awards for his range management practices, and you will not likely find any property that is in better shape from a range health standpoint in this area of the state. Additionally, there is an excellent blend of both open areas and brushy areas that quail hunters and deer hunters will find appealing.
A campsite is already established consisting of two small cabins, as well as a cook shack, with these facilities being unfurnished at this time. These are modest facilities and will require very little front end work to get them up to speed. There is a walk-in cooler for storing deer, but the refrigeration unit does need repair at hunter's expense.
Property is under a Managed Lands Deer Permit, which provides an extended season running from approximately October 1 through the last Sunday of February. Lease price is $4.75 per acre. A total harvest allotment of 11 bucks is provided with number of does being determined by fall helicopter survey. This is an excellent deer/quail combination lease. Please call Greg Simons if you would like additional details at (325)655-0877

AOUDAD HUNTING |
AOUDAD HUNTING If you are looking for a super hunting experience for a premier animal, in unspoiled big country, then you need to consider a free-range aoudad sheep hunt. Aoudad sheep, also known in some circles as Barbary Sheep, are native to the Barbary Coast of North Africa. Initially stocked in Palo Duro Canyon in 1957, subsequent releases took place in the Trans Pecos region during the 1960's, and over the years, aoudads have done well in these remote, rugged areas.
Our aoudad sheep hunts principally take place on two properties totaling 200,000 plus acres, each. Housing is modest, and this hunt is most-suited for someone looking for an exciting and challenging hunt. It can be physical, and make no mistake your ability to cover some terrain on unbroken topography increases your chances of bagging a big ram once we have him located.
This is a 3.5 day, 4 night package and includes meals, lodging, guiding, and game care. Our current cost is $3995 for a 1x1 guided hunt, but our price will be increased to $4500 on July 1 for a 1x1, with $3995 being the price for a 2x1 guided hunt. So, if you book your hunt before July 1, even if the hunt date falls sometime later, we will honor the current $3995, 1x1 price. |
| O2 Ranch Mule Deer Lease |
In recent years, Texas has emerged as a bonafide destination for quality mule deer hunting. And as you have seen through the mulies that WSI has been taking, there are indeed some great bucks turning up here.
For anyone looking for a quality mule deer lease, we have a great opportunity for you to consider. The O2 Ranch is a historic property located south of Alpine. Encompassing a total of over a quarter of a million acres, there is an approximate 90,000 acre block that is available for a group of mule deer hunters. This is vast, unspoiled country, with desert flats, mountains, and canyons. Your group will be able to harvest one mature mule deer buck, hogs, and predators, during the 16 day general mule deer season, which opens the weekend after Thanksgiving.
There are no facilities on the ranch, but there is a designated site that has water, and the ranch is willing to provide use of a 25 kW generator. So, you can bring an RV, or set up your tents, enjoy your campfire underneath Chihuahuan Desert stars, and hunt big mule deer on big country. Our preference is one group to commit to all 10 spots at $3995 each. Any serious inquiries should call Greg Simons at (325)655-0877. Accompanying mule deer photos from O2 Ranch.
