What's New In the Dominican Republic? 
Sunday, January 22 after the 11:15 service

Passion Fruit
Come hear about a new business venture in the DR that Hope is helping locals to establish.  Two local pastors will be starting a passion fruit farm.  If you have a "passion" for seeing communities and churches grow and would like to learn more, maybe be a part of, join us in the office workroom this Sunday.

Want to learn more about what Hope is doing around the world and around our community?  Do you want to learn how you can help make an impact for God's Kingdom?  Join others for the monthly World Impact fellowship on Wednesday, January 25, 7:00-8:30 pm in the Conference Room.  

Short Term Mission Trip to the DR, August 2012
January 29, after the 11:15 service

Summer isn't summer without a trip to the Dominican Republic.  This summer's trip will be Aug. 2-8 and will involve construction and teaching.  An information meeting will be held on Jan. 29 at the Conference room for anyone interested.  This trip is for anyone age 18 and up.  For more information, contact Matt Sanner at matt@pinkminnow.com.
Hope Thrift's Ministry of the Month

Each month Hope Thrift chooses a ministry in Richmond or abroad to bless.  This month the organization is the
Overseas Council International whose goal is to equip biblical leaders to be effective pastors, teachers, evangelists, missionaries and Christian leaders in their own countries. This Saturday all the proceeds received will go to the OCI.  Come shop or volunteer to make a difference!  
HSM Parents

The Parent meeting scheduled for this past Sunday Jan 15 has been moved to January 29. We will meet from 5:00-6:15pm. We will be discussing the upcoming winter retreat, the summer opportunities and changes in the way we can effectively do student ministry. Come be part of the conversation!

Whistle while you work...

Worship Arts is seeking a group of volunteers to work on various projects in support of our artists. No singing required - only a  happy heart and a can-do spirit!

What New in the Zone?

Computerized Check-in! On Jan 15 we began using a computerized check-in system in the Zone, our children's ministry for K-5th grade. This will provide a more efficient check-in and check-out process for our families. Please be patient as we transition to this new process.
The Vine

VineThe Vine is a group of single adults, ranging in age from mid 30s to 60s, who gather to build authentic and supportive friendships, have fun and serve the Lord together.  Never married, divorced, widowed, single parents- all welcome! Hope Hoops

We have two teams that are playing this Tuesday, Jan 17. Hope I is playing vs Welborne United Methodist at 6:30 and Hope Remix is playing TPC-Hunt at 8pm. All games are played at Byrd Middle School. Come cheer on our teams!

Each quarter the pastors recommend a book for people to read. In Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, readers are invited to experience the peace and presence of Christ in their daily lives. This modern devotional classic contains a year's worth of daily readings and is available at the Welcome Desk in an adult's and  children's version ($10).

Successful Blood Drive

      

On Saturday, Jan 7 we collected 21 units of blood for the Virginia Blood Bank at Hope Thrift. Thank you to all who were involved. You can make a difference!

Alpha Course

   

Alpha is a DVD series by Nicky Gumbel, a former atheist and barrister,  who followed a calling to become an Anglican priest. This course is designed to help you learn more about the Christian faith and begin or deepen a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This course will be hosted by Hopers, Katherine and Hunter Applewhite. Details...  

Births, Deaths and Marriages     

Please keep the family of Marji Robertson in your prayers, as our beloved Marji went to be with the Lord this past Sunday, Jan 8, 2012. The memorial service was this past Saturday, Jan 14.
